In addition to providing new basketball rankings each week, we also provide a breakdown of the rankings and why teams are placed in the spots they are. Here’s a look at the notes for this week.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: New Rankings Announced (Jan 24th)
Most of the top ten teams were able to get through last week without a loss so there is not major changes in any classification. One change that will draw some interest is a new number one squad in Class 1A. Altogether there are also seven new teams across the rankings.

We posted the new rankings earlier today and now we provide notes on each class and why teams are ranked where they are. It was a great week of hoops last week and more top games are on the schedule this week.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: Weekly Rankings Released (Jan 17th)
The past week brought several exciting results on the girl’s basketball courts and with those results come some changes in the latest Colorado Preps rankings. The best wins may have been earned by Longmont and McClave. The Trojans topped four-time defending state champion Broomfield their first loss to a 4A opponent since February 1, 2008 (Silver Creek). McClave beat Kim on the road, giving the Mustangs their first loss since the Cardinals also beat them in the 2009 state championship contest. The Mustangs had won 33 straight games.
