Defending state champion Chaparral is unbeaten on the season and enters the state tournament favored to win a second straight crown. Hot on their heels are both Regis and Grandview who feel they’re closing the gap on the Wolverines. Chaparral beat Regis twice during the regular season but the second contest went a full five games. Grandview also pushed the Wolverines to four games before losing very early in the season.

Colorado rivals have played each other in the last three finals with Fleming grabbing two championships and Otis one. Both the Wildcats and Bulldogs are back to make another run but Otis may be the favorite this year as they enter the state meet unbeaten on the season. They’re also coming off a very impressive three game sweep of a very good Simla club to win the regional tournament last week.

Fleming is seeking to play in their fifth straight final. They’re unbeaten against 1A foes this year and have won 23 straight matches. Simla and Wiley are two of the main challengers to break through against the two favorites. The Cubs of course would like another chance at beating Otis while Wiley is 24-1 overall with a lone loss to 2A qualifier Swink. The Panthers have won 20 in a row. Vail Christian and Norwood are two teams to watch from the Western Slope. They’ve already played three times this year and would like to make it four in the state finals.
