BOYS BASKETBALL: Schedule/Results 1-19-13
The neutral court battle between Haxtun and Shining Mountain is the top matchup in the boys division on Saturday. Played at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, the game pits a pair of state tournament contenders in 4th ranked Haxtun (2A) and the 2nd ranked Lions (1A). Both teams are also unbeaten on the season but each has been tested of late. Haxtun survived for a double overtime win against Fleming on Tuesday while Shining Mountain collected a 12 point win over Vail Christian last week.
That contest is the only game today featuring two ranked teams on the same court but there are still important games to be found. In Class 3A, 2nd ranked Pagosa Springs opens Intermountain League play at Centauri. The Falcons are coming off a 47-40 loss to Alamosa on Friday so they need a win to avoid an 0-2 conference hole. This contest tips at 7:00pm and can be watched live at ColoradoPreps.TV. Also in 3A is a game that impacts the top three standings in the Tri Peaks East as James Irwin meets Dolores Huerta. Dolores Huerta currently stands alone in first but if James Irwin gets the win the two will be tied with La Junta for the top spot entering the second half of the league schedule.
Out west in 3A, Roaring Fork looks to maintain sole possession of first when they host Basalt. The Rams scored a huge 45-42 overtime road win at Aspen last night. If the Rams get the win today, Moffat County must beat Cedaredge to stay within one game of the lead.
In Class 1A, 8th ranked Otis could be in for another test when they host Bethune. The Bobcats lost to 4th ranked Hi Plains by just 13 points early in the season plus Otis worked overtime in a win over Deer Trail Friday night and could be a bit leg weary.
Below is the entire schedule for Saturday. Final scores can be reported to Colorado Preps by text to either 970.380.7737 or 970.380.7738 or by email to kevin@coloradopreps.com.

Comments
Shining Mt. Is the real deal, very good defensive team & does a good job handling the ball. Impressive win over a very good Haxtun team...
Man, what happened to my Lower Platte today? Haxtun scored 29 and Akron gave up 82? Yikes!
