BOYS BASKETBALL: Schedule/Results 1-25-13

Friday, January 25, 2013 - 6:47am

Two long-time powers and rivals from the Denver City League square off tonight and the winner draws the inside track to the league championship.  Top ranked Denver East (5A) is unbeaten against in-state opponents but they should receive a challenge from 9th ranked Thomas Jefferson (4A) on the road this evening.  It’s one of many important games across the state that we’ll recap on the Colorado Preps Scoreboard Show from 9-11pm this evening.

Two important games can also be found in the 3A Metro where #5 Holy Family visits #6 Peak to Peak and #3 Lutheran (2A) entertains Machebeuf.  Holy Family is tied with Kent Denver (both 3-0) atop the standings while Peak to Peak looks to rebound from a 17 point loss to Colorado Academy two nights ago.  Lutheran scored their initial conference win over Jefferson Academy but also played well in losses to Holy Family and Kent Denver.  Machebeuf (0-3) has dropped their last two league games by a total of seven points so they’ve also been close to grabbing a win.

On the Western Slope, #9 Hayden (2A) and #8 Vail Christian (1A) are both strong contenders to the league championship and they collide this evening along the Wyoming border.  The Tigers and Saints are two of the four league unbeaten tied for first and have a combined record of 15-4.

Also in the smaller school divisions are important matchups between #10 Heritage Christian (2A) and Denver Christian along with a 1A clash between #3 Caliche and #6 Fleming.  Heritage Christian is coming off their first loss of the season falling to Resurrection Christian on Tuesday.  Since that loss came in league play, the Eagles must find a way to knock off the defending state champions to stay within one game of the league leaders.  Caliche and Fleming are playing for the second time this season with the Buffs scoring a 50-41 win in the season opener for both teams.

Final scores can be reported to Colorado Preps by text to either 970.380.7737 or 970.380.7738 or by email to kevin@coloradopreps.com.  We’ll recap the action during the Built Ford Tough Scoreboard Show which airs tonight from 9-11pm on the Colorado Preps Radio Network.  We’ll also visit with several head coaches throughout the state that post important wins.
