Comments
You have to feel bad for Prairie here. I am not saying that they should have gotten the first seed, but my gosh. They won the district four championship game, they beat Caliche, and obviously they are better than Rocky Mountain Lutheran.
Looks like the committee went out of their way to ensre no district rematches, which is good. Don't be surprised to see Caliche, Prairie, and Pawnee all at state.
The biggest joke of the entire basketball season this year is how bad Chsaa screwed the Lady Savages from Lamar. Chsaa gives Lamar a #11 seed with a 19-3 record are u kidding me. Lamar beat Trinidad and ST. Marys 4times this yr.
CHSAA must not have liked Lamar running up the score on Manitou in the 3rd place game.
Lamar tried to put reserves in at the four minute mark of the fourth, but the manitou coach puts his starters back in and pressed. Manitou is a very good team #1 on the west tri peaks so how do you run it up on a number one, that train of thought tells me that Lamar did get over looked in the seeding process.
There were two things going against Lamar 1) they didn't make it to the Tri-Peaks Championship and 2) they lost to Ellicott early in the year. Even though you aren't at home you avoided Sterling who, IMO, is better than Pagosa.
My two cents, but I didn't see them running up the score against Manitou. Manitou didn't quit and neither did Lamar.
Several things for Lamar Lady Savages page 46 of CHSAA pairing procedure 1.overall record, better than Trinidad 2.League record Lamar won the league, 3.League standing Lamar again,4 Strength of schedule one of the toughest Tri peaks east 5. Head to head Lamar gets that also 6. Strength of league 3 teams from tri peaks in top 10, 7. Record in last 10 games of season Lamar was 13 and ZERO that is wins over Trinidad and St Marys both home and away. Sorry Lady Savages CHSAA committee looked over that page also.
Pretty good rankings for 1A should be good games on thursday, the northeast teams should dominate. I think it will be Caliche, Pawnee, and hopfully Prairie, if they play as well as they did against Caliche in Dist. 4 championship. Disappointed in Caliche girls not staying on the court to receive 2nd place trophy Saturday night, very disrespectful and unsportsman like. Good job to Pawnee they are a pretty good team after losing 4 senior starters and only having one with experience
Idalia gets no love from the Chassa. I'm not saying they are #1 but Bellview Christian AND Jim Elliot ? Are they really that good ? I agree with Hay on you though, the draw is good Idalia beat prairie already this year and they are peaking at the right time as the Dist. 5 champs. It does seem strange that as district champs Praire is no better than eighth.
