Four weeks of football are in the books and teams in the largest three classes have one more week of non-league play before starting the run at a conference championship.  Classes 3A and 5A rankings are jumped quite a bit while the top 10 in Class 4A remains virtually intact.
These are rankings from Colorado Preps.  Official polls from CHSAA are released each Monday morning.

CLASS 5A

#1 Valor Christian (4-0)
#2 Eaglecrest (4-0)
#3 Pomona (3-1)
#4 Mullen (2-3)
#5 Regis (3-1)
#6 Cherry Creek (3-1)
#7 Columbine (3-1)
#8 Grandview (2-2)
#9 Doherty (3-1)
#10 Fairview (4-0)
TEAMS TO WATCH:  Highlands Ranch (3-1), Legacy (3-1), Chaparral (2-2), Lakewood (4-0), Arvada West (3-1)
NOTES:  As the top teams continue to face off in non-league play there continues to be shuffling in the rankings.  Valor Christian beat Pomona, Cherry Creek stuffed Grandview and Regis beat Highlands Ranch in top 10 battles from the weekend.  Valor stayed put at number one while Regis bumped to fifth and Cherry Creek to sixth.  Pomona lost one spot to third, Grandview fell to eighth and Highlands Ranch was dropped from the poll.  Replacing the Falcons is Fairview who sits at 4-0 following a huge win over Prairie View.  Mullen may be the biggest surprise as they jumped two spots despite an out of state loss.  The Mustangs if you recall have a win over Regis, Regis beat Cherry Creek and Creek has beaten Grandview and Doherty.  Head to head results early in the season play a very important role in our rankings.

CLASS 4A

#1 Pine Creek (4-0)
#2 Ponderosa (4-0)
#3 Windsor (3-1)
#4 Chatfield (3-1)
#5 Fruita Monument (5-0)
#6 Pueblo West (4-0)
#7 Pueblo South (3-1)
#8 Loveland (4-0)
#9 Monarch (4-0)
#10 Skyline (4-0)
TEAMS TO WATCH:  Vista Ridge (2-2), Widefield (4-0), Standley Lake (4-0), Cheyenne Mountain (3-1), Broomfield (2-2), Rampart (3-2), Montrose (2-2)
NOTES:  With only one top 10 team from our rankings last week suffering a loss, the poll this week is unchanged through the top nine spots.  We toyed with moving Chatfield ahead of Windsor due to the Chargers’ win over 5A Columbine but left them alone since Windsor has already played a very strong schedule.  Skyline gets into the poll to replace Vista Ridge who lost to Pine Creek 26-0.  Skyline is one of three 4-0 teams we considered, but they’ve beaten opponents with a combined six wins compared to just four for both Widefield and Standley Lake.

CLASS 3A

#1 Mead (4-0)
#2 Holy Family (4-0)
#3 Palmer Ridge (4-0)
#4 Roosevelt (3-1)
#5 Silver Creek (3-1)
#6 Erie (4-0)
#7 Discovery Canyon (2-2)
#8 Berthoud (4-0)
#9 Skyview (4-0)
#10 Harrison (4-0)
TEAMS TO WATCH:  Canon City (4-0), Fort Morgan (2-2), Longmont (1-3), Palisade (3-2), Durango (3-2), Rifle (3-1), Glenwood Springs (3-1), Frederick (3-1), Pueblo East (0-4), Thomas Jefferson (3-1)
NOTES:  It has been a tremendous four week stretch of football for the Tri Valley conference.  The six members of the league are a combined 22-2 this year and five of the clubs are in the rankings this week.  Mead and Holy Family continue to be 1-2 and Roosevelt bumped up to fourth thanks to their wild win over Silver Creek last Friday.  Erie is also up to sixth while Berthoud joins the rankings after beating Fort Morgan 22-10 last week.  Skyview and Harrison are also newcomers with unbeaten marks.  The Wolverines are ranked higher as they’ve beaten four teams with eight combined wins; Harrison with victories against clubs with six wins.  Other teams pushing for spots in the rankings are Palisade and Rifle from the Western Slope.
