Perhaps one of the biggest marquee games this week is just north of Denver as Delta makes the trip to face The Academy. Both teams sit inside the Class 2A top five and will get a chance to solidify their status as a top team in the state.

Like last week’s slate of 1A games, the schedule featuring the ranked 2A teams is light this week as several squads will rest up before diving into league play.

**

(1) The Classical Academy at Sand Creek

After a dominant win over Alamosa in Week 3, the Titans had a bye week last week and return to the field against another 3A opponent. Ethan Aragundi has set the tone on offense with 122 yards per game and has scored five touchdowns. TCA is outscoring its opponents 105-30 and that includes a win over defending state champion Eaton in Week 1.

(3) Delta at (4) The Academy (Saturday)

The biggest game in the classification will be played Saturday afternoon and could have huge playoff seeding implications for each team. The Academy started the year a bit underrated, but a win over Elizabeth put everyone on notice. Isaiah Eliot has thrown for 672 yards with seven touchdowns and has yet to be picked off. The Wildcats’ chance at another big win will largely depend on Eliot’s play.

The Panthers have done a great job at weathering the loss of quarterback Ty Reed. Landon Clay has stepped in and run the offense efficiently to keep Delta undefeated. A big part of that has been relying on Konner Workman who is averaging 80 rushing yards per game adn has scored a pair of rushing touchdowns.

(7) Florence at Faith Christian

In its final non-league game of the season, Florence hits the road to take on Faith Christian. The Huskies beat Pagosa Springs 22-19 before resting up on their bye week. Lincoln Nix set the tone with 104 rushing yards a touchdown while Levi Paxton had 146 passing yards, a passing touchdown while adding a rushing touchdown.

The Eagles are coming off a close win against Kent Denver and are trying to win two games in a row for the first time this season.
