DENVER – Cherokee Trail’s hunt for a Class 6A girls basketball title will extend into next week.

The No. 1-seeded Cougars looked dominant in a 66-39 win over No. 9 Legend at Denver Coliseum. Aaliyah Broadus scored a game-high 29 points and also grabbed six rebounds.

Karson Chaney and Chloe Cain each scored 13 for the Cougars.

“The more we share the ball and our shots start falling, we’re all in rhythm,” Broadus said. “As a team, it’s a great feeling. We’re all smiling, cheering and it’s just what you want to be around.”

The Cougars advance to the Final 4 and will take on Northfield, who beat Riverdale Ridge Friday morning at the Coliseum.

Highlands Ranch 54, Arapahoe 31

With Highlands Ranch entering the 6A girls basketball tournament as the No. 7 seed, it was tough to identify six teams better than the Falcons.

Especially after they put together a dominant performance against Arapahoe, winning 54-31 to advance to the Final 4 where they’ll face Denver East.

“We knew we could beat any team as long as we work hard and play together,” Addie Moon said. “That’s been our thing all year. We’ve been the underdogs and people have been waiting for us to show out. And we’re doing it.”

Moon scored a game-high 24 points for the Falcons, including going 4-for-5 from 3-point range. As a team, the Falcons shot 46% from long range.
