The 32-team baseball regional brackets in Class 3A and 2A have been unveiled.

The RPI rankings have spoken and the 16 regionals – eight in each class – get underway this weekend.

The quest for state supremacy is at stake. Here are some matchups to digest in this opening weekend.

Class 3A

Region 1

No. 16 Manitou Springs (12-10) vs. Bennett (14-9), 2:30 p.m., May 16, at University

This game should be a good one against two evenly matched teams – at least based on the RPI rankings.

Manitou enters the playoffs after two consecutive losses to end the season to Lamar (11-4) and Mesa Ridge (15-3).

The Mustangs offense needs a jumpstart and if that happens it should come from Hayden Martinez (.391), Cooper Frojen (.382) and Maxton Bolster (.379).

On the mound, Bolster has thrown the most innings for the Mustangs this season at 43.1 innings.

The Mustangs will try and keep Bennett at bay. The Tigers come cruise into playoffs on a three-game winning streak defeating Yuma (9-8), Wellington (4-3) and Mitchell (21-0).

Offensively, Bennett is fueled by Brody Hawes (.508), Rafael Ibarra (.357) and Ben Mathis (.329).

Pitching-wise, Mathis has thrown a team-high 34.1 innings. The winner of this game moves on to face the victor between No. 1 University (20-3) and No. 32 Lincoln (16-7), which play at noon Friday.

Region 3

No. 14 Peak to Peak (13-10) vs. No. 19 Gunnison (13-10) at 2:30 p.m., May 17, at Coal Ridge

This is certainly an intriguing game in Region 3. Peak to Peak will likely have its hands full against Gunnison. The Pumas are 2-2 in their last four games, including a 3-2 loss to Jefferson Academy on Tuesday.

The Pumas need to put the regular season in the rear-view mirror. Peak to Peak must have its leading hitters – Dane Hirt (.432), Cooper Campbell (.392) and AJ Greene (.391). Campbell has thrown a team-high 43.1 innings and Jacob Strong has been on the mound for 33.2 innings.

Gunnison counters with an offense powered by Grady Buckhanan (.536), Nolan Frymore (.500) and Rylee Berry (.350). Kellan Yoder has thrown a team-high 48.2 innings.

The winner of the Peak to Peak-Gunnison game advances to play the victor between No. 3 Coal Ridge (20-2-1) and No. 30 Timnath (10-13) at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Class 2A

Region 2

No. 15 SkyView Academy (11-5) vs. No. 18 Burlington (8-10), 10 a.m., Friday at Dayspring Christian

SkyView enters the playoffs paced by heavy hitters Clay Cosart (.465) Logen Meyers (.408) and Chris Gallegos (.397).

The Hawks come into the postseason with a 4-2 record in their last six games. The top pitchers for SkyView have been Meyers, Gallegos and Gage Baumann all who have three wins.

Burlington is 3-3 in its last six games, including being swept in a doubleheader by Yuma by identical 2-0 scores.

The Cougars top batter is Lenny Ramirez (.500), Daria McDonough (.356) and Rowdy Humrich (.341). Zack Foose has thrown for a team-best 35.2 innings, followed by Ramirez’s 27.2 innings.

The winner between SkyView-Burlington will move on to play the victor between No. 2 Dayspring Christian (19-3) and Sedgwick County (9-14) at 3 p.m., Friday.

Region 4

No. 13 Wiggins (11-12) vs. No. 20 North Fork (10-9), 11 a.m., Saturday at Peyton

Wiggins has had an up and down regular season which included a 1-3 record in its last four games. The Tigers are fueled on offense by Isaac Flores (.430), Larry Garcia (.394) and Carston Johnson (.358). Garcia has been his team’s top pitcher with a 4-1 record and a 3.88 ERA.

This game’s winner will get the chance to play the victor between No. 4 Peyton (18-1)-No. 29 Estes Park (7-11) at 1:30 p.m., Saturday. North Fork will try to regain its momentum in the playoffs as it ended the season with a 2-3 record. Payson Pene (.451) and Mario Gama (.311) are the Miners top hitters. Gama has been a workhorse on the mound firing 52.2 innings this season.
