LAKEWOOD — There was no winner between Columbine and Highlands Ranch in boys soccer action Monday night at Lakewood Memorial Field.
The Rebels and Falcons fought to a 1-1 draw. It was the third tie of the season for Columbine (3-0-3 record) and fourth tie for Highlands Ranch (3-1-4). The scoring looked promising early with two goals in the opening minutes.
Highlands Ranch struck first in the 4th minute. Senior Carter Bolton scored his fifth goal of the season on a shot past Columbine sophomore goalie Avery Ingalls to give the Falcons an early 1-0 lead.
Columbine answered back in a hurry. Columbine senior Adam Seaton got a nice feed from junior Cayden Roll in the 6th minute to tie things up 1-1.

The story in the final 70-plus minutes was one of a handful of near misses and great goaltending. Highlands Ranch junior goalie Gavin Godbout didn’t allow a goal after the tally by Seaton.
Ingalls was solid in net after allowing an early goal. Sophomore William James took over in goal for the Rebels in the second half.
James had a big save on Highlands Ranch senior Dylan Khanbabian in the 73rd minute. Junior Tor Gulbrandson had a couple of great scoring chances for the Falcons, but couldn’t get his shot on target.
Columbine seniors Connor Kaali-Nagy and Bryce Langdon both had good scoring chances in the closing minutes. Roll had the last final chance for the Rebels to prevent the tie, but Godbout was able to make a saving save in the final few minutes.
Columbine is on the road for a non-league game Saturday against Chaparral. Highlands Ranch begins Class 5A/4A/3A Continental League play tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 15) against Legend.
