LAKEWOOD — Dakota Ridge girls lacrosse is moving on.
The No. 11-seeded Eagles defeated No. 22 Montrose 18-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Trailblazer Stadium in the first round of the Class 4A state tournament. It was the first shutout victory of the season for Dakota Ridge.
The win advances Dakota Ridge (11-5 record) into the second round. No. 6 Cheyenne Mountain is scheduled to host the Eagles on Thursday, May 7. It marks the second straight season Dakota Ridge has moved onto the second round of the state tournament.
A season ago, the Eagles were also the No. 11 seed and took a home win over Eaglecrest to advance.

It was all Dakota Ridge against Montrose (0-14) early. The Eagles scored 10 goals in the first quarter. Senior Lily Kate Schroeder had a hat-trick after the first 12 minutes. Schroeder finished with a game-high four goals.
Sophomore Addy Sorrells had a trio of goals. Juniors Emily Berumen, Lyla Devaney, Emery Bowman, along with freshman Cadence Cullen all had two goals each.
Senior Kiera Scanlon, junior Ava Corradino and sophomore Kelly Weeks also got into the scoring action for Dakota Ridge. Senior Jenna Rystrom picked up the shutout win in net for the Eagles.
