Playoff hockey is back in the high school ranks as the Class 5A and 4A state tournament brackets were released by CHSAA on Monday. Playoff games will be begin this week as teams begin their journeys to get to Magness Arena for the state championship games on March 3.
The 5A quarterfinals will be played at South Suburban on Feb. 25 while 4A quarters will be contested at home sites. The state semifinals in both classifications will take place on March 1 at Ed Robson Arena in Colorado Springs, the home of the Colorado College Tigers.
The title games will then move north to DU’s Magness Arena where state champions will be crowned on March 3.
Below is a bit of information on each bracket.
Class 5A
The Poudre School District team comes in as the No. 1 overall seed after an impressive 16-1-2 regular season mark. Hayden Williamson is a big reason for that success with a team-leading 40 this season. He scored 25 goals and added 15 assists during the regular season.
In 10 games minding the net, Hayden Stolz went 10-0-1 and allowed just 17 goals.
Monarch is the No. 2 seed and is trying to win its first state championship since beating Regis Jesuit in 2017. Last year’s runner-up, Valor Christian, checks in at No. 3 on the bracket with Cherry Creek rounding out the top four.
Regis Jesuit, the defending 5A champion, comes in at No. 5.

Class 4A
Glenwood Springs again takes the top spot in the 4A. The Demons were the No. 1 team in the 2024 playoffs, but lost 4-1 to eventual state champion Durango in the semifinals.
Jacob Rogge and Jacob Stockdill have been a solid one-two punch for Glenwood this year. Rogge leads the Demons in total points (33) by way of 13 goals and 20 assists while Stockdill has a team-high 20 goals and 12 assists to total 32 points on the year.
Goalie Issac Zevin is 15-0-1 on the year and has a .930 save percentage heading into the postseason.
Steamboat Springs checks in as the No. 2 seed thanks to a 14-4-0 record. All four losses for the Sailors were to teams seeded in the top eight of the bracket. Pine Creek sits at the No. 3 spot, while Summit, the 2024 state runner-up is at No. 4.
Defending champion Durango checks in as the No. 8 seed.
