As crazy as it seems, the Class 3A, 2A and 1A boys basketball seasons are rapidly progressing.

By the second weekend of March, state champions will be crowned in these three classes.

Before the postseason begins, there have been plenty strong performances in these classes. Below is a sample of some of the stars who are shining.

HAWKS ARE SOARING: The SkyView Academy Hawks have soared to an 11-3 record. That record had them in the mix as one of the Top 10 teams in Class 3A.

SkyView is coming off a 68-65 win over Lyons on Jan. 31. In that game, the Hawks had a three-prong scoring punch with Reagan Lewis (23 points), Markus Lloyd (17 points) and Isaac Dove (16 points).

Lloyd is the team’s leading scorer at 15.1 ppg, followed by Lewis 13.9 ppg and Dove 13.7 ppg.

The Hawks have won five games in a row and will try and keep things rolling against Dawson School (6-7) at 6 p.m., Friday.

LIONS ARE ROARING: The Loveland Classic Lions have put together a great season in the Class 2A ranks. LC is firmly considered one of the Top 10 teams in Class 2A. The Lions have won eight games in a row, since a 56-40 loss to Liberty Common on Dec. 13.

Trevan Coberly (15.5 ppg), Jackson Jensen (12.8 ppg) and Hudson Ruppert (11.2 ppg) are leading the Lions offensively.

LC grabbed another big win over STEM School Highlands Ranch (10-6), on Feb. 5, winning the game 59-27.

NUCLA MAKING NOISE: The Nucla Mustangs are right in the 1A mix, compiling a 12-4 overall record. Nucla was riding a four-game winning streak before losing to Dove Creek (60-43) on Jan. 28.

Nucla bounced back with a 63-35 victory over Mancos on Jan. 30. Holten McCluer (16 points) and Brycen Rummel (15 points) powered the Mustangs to that victory.

Rummel average a team-best 15.6 ppg. Nucla returns to the court at 5:30 p.m., Friday when they visit Telluride (6-10). The Mustangs will have an opportunity to avenge its latest loss when they take on Dove Creek (12-5) at 1 p.m., Saturday.

Class 3A

Resurrection Christian (16-0) at Liberty Common (9-6) at 7 p.m., Friday

RC will try and continue its perfect season when it collides with Liberty Common. RC has been dominant this season, thanks to its offensive firepower provided by Ty Yoder (17.8 ppg), Graham Riggs (14.7 ppg) and Egan Koenig (12.7 ppg).

Liberty Common will counter with Pierce Richardson (18.1 ppg), Caiden Castillo (13.7 ppg) and Grayson Clay (11.7 ppg).

Class 2A

Heritage Christian (11-4) at Bishop Machebeuf (11-2), 8 p.m., Thursday

This is a big test with two teams that are expected to be in the state tournament mix. The Eagles led by Alec Lundy (20.4 ppg), Levi Hermsen (19.5 ppg) and David Kubie (10.8 ppg). HC has won seven of the last eight games, with an 81-36 loss to Resurrection Christian on Jan. 30 as its only blemish in that stretch.

Machebeuf has Jack Menke (18 ppg), John Menke (15 ppg) and Miles Edgar-Parchman (10 ppg) in its fold. The Buffaloes have won nine games in a row.

Class 1A

After losing to Byers (59-46) on Jan. 30, Arickaree bounced back with a 47-38 victory over Idalia on Jan. 31.

Zarron Skubal fueled his team’s latest win with 14 points. Otis is powered by Charlie Kendrick (19.4 ppg) and Grady Bechtle (10.6 ppg). Otis is in the midst of an eight-game winning streak, including a 62-46 decision over Prairie in its last outing on Jan. 31.
