AKRON - SHAWN RANDEL - MARCH 7TH

Akron is one of three Lower Platte teams in the 2A bracket and will take on unbeaten Highland in the quarterfinals. Akron is the higher seed but lost to the Huskies during the regular season. [LISTEN]

FOWLER - MARK LOWTHER - MARCH 7TH

Fowler ended a 17-year span away from the state tournament by winning two games at the regional tournament last week. Now they go into the state bracket as the 7th seed and challenge Holyoke. [LISTEN]

STERLING - MIKE HOLLOWAY - MARCH 7TH

It took overtime on the road but Sterling reached the 3A Great 8 by beating Coal Ridge last weekend. [LISTEN]

EADS - TREY EDER - MARCH 7TH

Maybe the most surprising team in the Class 1A state tournament, the Eagles advanced as the 8th seed in the Southeast regional beating Holly and Kim last weekend. [LISTEN]

SEDGWICK COUNTY - STACY WOODHAMS - MARCH 7TH

The Cougars finished third in the Class 2A state tournament last year and enter this year's event as the top overall seed but waiting in the first round is a meeting with three-time defending state champion Sanford. [LISTEN]

OURAY - ADAM TRUJILLO - MARCH 7TH

The Trojans are in the state tournament for a third straight season and looking to improve on last year's fourth place finish. [LISTEN]

HOLLY - DUSTY HECK - MARCH 7TH

The Wildcats won the 1A state championship two years ago and finished third last season. They're back for another run this year after beating South Baca in the regional finals. [LISTEN]

YUMA - BOB RAHM - MARCH 7TH

With virtually a new roster, defending state champion Yuma is back in the tournament and needs three wins to grab a second consecutive crown. [LISTEN]

DEL NORTE - MIKE GLOVER - MARCH 7TH

Del Norte rebounded from a loss to Sanford in the district finals to beat Hotchkiss and Ignacio in the regional tournament. They now advance to the state tournament for the first time since 2006. [LISTEN]

BASALT - DANNY MARTINEZ - MARCH 7TH

Basalt topped DSST-Green Valley last Saturday to earn their first state tournament invitation since 1989. They meet top seeded Kent Denver on Thursday. [LISTEN]

PAONIA - SCOTT REINKS - MARCH 7TH

Unbeaten on the season, the Eagles dropped to second in RPI after regionals and will be the two seed in the Class 2A girls bracket. [LISTEN]

HAXTUN - RICH GERK - MARCH 7TH

The Bulldogs took third in District Two but then beat both Highland and Evangelical Christian at regionals to earn a state tournament bid in Class 2A. [LISTEN]

ANTONITO - JEREMY ROMERO - MARCH 7TH

The Trojans are 23-0 and in the state tournament for the first time in school history. They meet Fleming in a state quarterfinal Thursday. [LISTEN]

CHEYENNE WELLS - MATT ROBERTS - MARCH 7TH

The Tigers are seeded 2nd in the 1A state tournament and will open play against Creede on Thursday. [LISTEN]

RIFLE - KRISTY WALLNER - FEB 28TH

The Bears scored a major win on the road in the 4A Sweet 16 Tuesday night as they topped Air Academy 42-35 in overtime. The win pushes Rifle into the state quarterfinals and they're back on the road Friday at Windsor. [LISTEN]

KIOWA - RIC CAROTHERS - FEB 28TH

The Indians rolled through district tournament play to earn the 3rd seed in the 1A Southeast Regional but may have to battle South Baca in the finals. [LISTEN]

CENTER - MARK JONES - FEB 28TH

After a regular season filled with close losses and near misses, the Vikings grabbed a narrow win over Sargent to earn a berth in the 2A Western regional. [LISTEN]

NORWOOD - GREG KING - FEB 28TH

Playing their first season in Class 2A, the tradition rich Mavericks qualified for the Western regional and will face Center in their first round contest. [LISTEN]

BAYFIELD - JEFF LEHNUS - FEB 28TH

The Wolverines won the third meeting with Alamosa last Saturday and with it the district championship. Now the two teams could meet for a fourth time if they both collect wins on Friday in the opening round of the 3A State Tournament. [LISTEN]
