Post-season play in Class 2A boys basketball is quickly approaching and to get ready, we try our hand at laying out seeding for the eight district tournaments.  The projections below are based on CURRENT league and RPI standings with notes on each on how the bracket will be determined.  Our list is not complete yet so we will update once we receive seeding details from various districts.
These are for projections only and the order could obviously could obviously change as league order and RPI will continue to change with more games played.  The regular season ends on February 22nd.

District #1

  1. Still getting details

NOTES:  Conference standings from the Southern Peaks are used to seed the district tournament.  Several teams play each other twice but only one game counts in the standings so we’re trying to clarify which contests actually count to the district bracket.

District #2

  1. Yuma
  2. Sedgwick County
  3. Wray
  4. Holyoke
  5. Wiggins
  6. Akron

NOTES:  Conference standings from the Lower Platte are used to seed the bracket.

District #3

  1. Ignacio
  2. Mancos
  3. Telluride
  4. Ridgway
  5. Dolores

NOTES:  Conference standings from the San Juan are used to seed the bracket.

District #4

  1. Denver Christian
  2. Limon
  3. Burlington
  4. Byers
  5. Clear Creek
  6. Lotus School
  7. Denver Academy
  8. Front Range Chrsitian
  9. Golden View Classical
  10. Platte Canyon

NOTES:  RPI standings are used to the seed the bracket but if head to head results could come into play if the two squads are very close in those standings.  For example, Limon is two spots ahead of Denver Christian in the latest RPI but we moved the Thunder ahead of the Badgers since they won the head-to-head matchup.  It’s the same scenario in spots 4-5 as Byers topped Clear Creek in a regular season contest.

District #5

  1. Vail Christian
  2. Meeker
  3. Plateau Valley
  4. Paonia
  5. Hotchkiss
  6. Rangely
  7. West Grand
  8. Soroco
  9. Vail Mountain
  10. Hayden
  11. Caprock Academy

NOTES:  Conference standings from the Western Slope are used to seed the bracket.  Several positions require a head-to-head tiebreaker and many more key games are left on the schedule.

District #6

Western Division

  1.  Fowler
  2. Hoehne
  3. Rye
  4. Swallows Charter
  5. John Mall (not eligible for post-season)

Eastern Division

  1. Holly
  2. Crowley County
  3. Rocky Ford
  4. Swink
  5. Las Animas

NOTES:  Division standings from the Santa Fe conference determine the seed order.  John Mall dropped their varsity schedule midway through the season so they won’t compete in the district tournament.  Crowley County and Rocky Ford share spots 2-3 in the East so the order could change based on the remaining schedule as they split two regular season battles.

District #7

  1. Highland
  2. Dayspring Christian
  3. Dawson
  4. Heritage Christian
  5. Union Colony
  6. Lyons
  7. Gilpin County
  8. Twin Peaks Charter
  9. Loveland Classical

NOTES:  Conference standings from the Mile High are used to seed the bracket.  Dayspring Christian and Dawson have the same number of league losses but the Eagles move to #2 since they won the head-to-head matchup.

District #8

  1. Peyton
  2. Dolores Huerta
  3. Colorado Springs School
  4. Thomas MacLaren
  5. Calhan
  6. Simla
  7. Fountain Valley
  8. Miami Yoder

NOTES:  Conference standings from the Black Forest are used to seed the tournament but there are several ties that still need to be broken.  Peyton and Dolores Huerta are both unbeaten but they play this week to likely determine spots 1-2.  There’s also a three-way tie between Colorado Springs School, Thomas MacLaren and Calhan for positions 3-5.  We use RPI from February 13th to place the teams in the order listed.
