Saturday night is our first shot at projecting at 2A regional tournament brackets for both the boys and girls division.  We’ve updated the story to include both girls and boys brackets based on the most current RPI and all district tournaments being completed.

Please note the RPI numbers will update a couple of more times before being made official by CHSAA.  We will have another look at the pairings Sunday morning before official brackets are announced.

GIRLS

With the action complete from Saturday and RPI updated at 8:11pm we can start to layout tournament brackets for regionals next week.  RPI from 8:00pm do not include every result so the order could change and will update Sunday morning before the official pairings are released.  But based on the data available to us now, here are our projected regional pairings.

REGION 1   REGION 5
#1 Sanford #5 Rye
#32 Dolores Huerta #28 Fowler
#16 Swink #12 Heritage Christian
#17 Denver Christian #21 Yuma
REGION 2   REGION 6
#2 Holyoke #6 Cedaredge
#31 Burlington #27 Byers
#15 Akron #11 Hoehne
#18 Mancos #22 Monte Vista
REGION 3   REGION 7
#3 Limon #7 Dayspring Christian
#30 Front Range Christian #26 Ignacio
#14 Wray #10 Sedgwick County
#19 Meeker #23 Rangely
REGION 4   REGION 8
#4 Soroco #8 Peyton
#29 Del Norte #25 Center
#13 Wiggins #9 Sargent
#20 Gilpin County #24 Fountain Valley

We won’t move teams in our first projected bracket but there are some travel concerns and district matchups in round one involving teams seeded 25-32.  Burlington for example would be moved away from Holyoke.  Limon and Front Range Christian are from the same district and Rye-Fowler are both from the Santa Fe conference.  As we get fresh RPI numbers later tonight or early Sunday morning, we can get a deeper look at the brackets and potential moves from teams.

BOYS

The pairings below reflect RPI standings from 9:15pm on Saturday night and does include Yuma’s win over Wray but that should not impact either teams current standings.  Yuma remains the number one overall seed while Wray should remain ahead of Denver Christian as the highest ranked non-district champion.

Again RPI standings could change a couple of times before becoming official on Sunday morning.  We’ll check the new numbers in the morning and put together another bracket.  Also, we won’t move teams in the bracket below to relieve district pairings or alter travel for the lowest eight seeds.  That will come with the next round or projections on Sunday.
