With a number of teams in the Class 3A ranks having opened the season early, the upcoming slate of games is a bit lighter this weekend. Only four teams ranked in the top 10 are on the schedule, with three of those looking to stay unbeaten.

Mead, the state runner-up in 3A last fall, continues its non-league gauntlet Friday night against third-ranked Green Mountain. The Mavericks have already faced a pair of top-five opponents this fall in Lutheran and Durango. Green Mountain has shut out three of its first four opponents while averaging 42 points a game.

Green Mountain stayed unbeaten, recording its third shutout in four games with a 48-0 blanking of Pueblo South. Zach Wallace and George Soppe each rushed for two scores, and the defense forced three turnovers. Kole Stratman had an interception and a fumble recovery. Carter Evans was a perfect 5-for-5 passing with two touchdowns and three players had rushing scores for Resurrection Christian, which opens league play next Friday against No. 1 Roosevelt.
