Rock Canyon did something similar, although they came from No. 25 to secure the upset. They defeated host Denver South 3-1 and followed that up with a sweep of Fossil Ridge to punch their ticket.
Both teams are battle-tested, having played playoff opponents seven times apiece.
While the Continental League is well represented, the 5A/4A Centennial League features some of the top teams in the bracket. Top-seeded Cherry Creek hails from that league, as does Grandview, the most fire-forged team of the group. The Wolverines have faced a bracket-best nine matchups with playoff opponents, notching a 6-3 record in that span.
