We are close. Yet still much regular season drama to embrace before Class 5A Volleyball gets to the postseason phase. Front-runners have been established in league races, but the ladies on the courts will reveal the final verdicts. And it is fair to say elite programs are working on long-term positioning for regional seeding opportunities.
Let’s touch three notable results already in and then angle our eyeballs towards the best of the rest of Week Seven:

Monday, October 1: #4 Valor wins 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 21-19) at #6 Palmer Ridge (4A)
Eagles have now won 36 of 38 sets played in 2018. Along with five Jeffco matches, they have notable non-league contests against East Metro League perennial, Rangeview, on Thursday and top-ranked Lewis-Palmer (4A) on October 23.

Tuesday, October 2: #6 Cherry Creek wins 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23) at #2 Cherokee Trail Cougars
Bruins remain undefeated in Centennial League play at 5-0 with two matches remaining — Overland on October 4 and Arapahoe on October 9.

Tuesday, October 2: Rock Canyon wins 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-23) over Highlands Ranch
Success momentum continues for the unranked Jaguars who are now 6-0 in the Continental League with four to play — including Regis on Thursday then ThunderRidge, #8 Castle View, and top-ranked Chaparral.

Thursday, October 4: Loveland Indians at #5 Fort Collins Lambkins
It is valid to say that the Front Range League has a big three that top the list. Stalking from the opposite pin in the 4-spot is this Indians volleyball program — especially in the last half-decade.
This is first of the annual FRL trinity test for Loveland (8-1, 6-0). Their most recent match victory versus The Three was a sweep of Collins in 2015. In two weeks, Loveland will finish their league schedule with Rocky Mountain on October 18 and on the road at #3 Fossil Ridge on October 23.
We still get to copy-and-paste the note about the only squad to stop top-ranked Chaparral in 2018: 5th-ranked Fort Collins (11-2, 6-1). However, the Lambkins lost their wiggle room in the league title race after the four-set loss to Fossil Ridge three weeks ago. The bigger picture goals include securing the right to host a regional with intentions to earn a repeat trip to the Class 5A State tournament.

Thursday, October 4: #7 Eaglecrest at Grandview
7th-ranked Eaglecrest (10-4, 3-2) has realistic goals of hosting a regional during postseason.
Grandview (5-9, 4-1) has some self-defining opportunities coming up. They finish their league schedule with their in-town rivals who are both ranked in the current Top 10. The Wolves visit 2nd-ranked Cherokee Trail on October 9 before traveling down to the annual tournament event on the Cheyenne Mountain campus.
Eaglecrest holds a three match win streak versus Grandview.

Thursday, October 4: Doherty at Liberty
Within the Colorado Springs Metro schedule, both Doherty (8-4, 1-0) and Liberty (8-6, 1-0) are working towards carrying unblemished league records into their upcoming jousts with Rampart (10-4, 2-0) on October 16 and October 18, respectively.
The Lancers have won three consecutive matches in this series.

Other matches we have reasons to track the rest of the volleyball week:
Thursday, October 4: #4 Valor at Rangeview
Thursday, October 4: Ralston Valley at Dakota Ridge
Thursday, October 4: Highlands Ranch at ThunderRidge
Friday, October 5: Lakewood at Columbine
