An unexpected bye week for Stratton will allow the Eagles to rest up ahead of their final regular season games. That leaves No. 2 Fleming as the top-ranked 6-man team in action this week and the Wildcats will take on newly ranked Prairie.
That’s a big league showdown highlighting an important week of 6-Man football games.

(2) Fleming at (10) Prairie
The Wildcats put together a strong rushing performance in their 58-13 win over Weldon Valley last week. The team totaled 202 yards on the ground with freshman Wyatt Sonnenberg leading the way with 85. Travis Johnson found the end zone twice on just four carries.
Prairie enters the top 10 after a close win over Branson/Kim. Clayton Hove rushed for 227 and four touchdowns, one of the best overall performances of the week. He also intercepted a pass on defense which played a huge role in the Mustangs coming away with the win.
(3) Otis at (4) Arickaree
Otis was just the latest team to suffer a loss at the hands of Stratton. The Bulldogs still look like a strong team but will be tested once again this week against Arickaree. Tayte Smith was held to under 100 rushing yards for just the second time this year as he went for 78, but he did score two touchdowns.
Arickaree didn’t take the field last week as Flagler forfeited the contest. The Panthers have actually shut down the football program for the remainder of the season. The Bison should come into this week’s game rested and healthy.
(5) Genoa-Hugo at Idalia (Thursday)
After a close loss to Otis in Week 6, the Pirates rebounded to get a 66-26 win over Hi-Plains last Thursday. Trey Smith went 3 for 3 through the air with 131 yards and three touchdowns. The team overall totaled 139 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. The team should get similar production against Iadlia this week.
(6) Cheyenne Wells at (7) Eads
The Tigers have won four of their last five games and that includes last week’s 68-24 clash with Walsh. Ty Scheler rushed for 210 yards and six touchdowns and also threw for a touchdown. He also accounted for his team’s only forced turnover of the game as he picked off Walsh’s Cody Malone.
Eads, meanwhile, was on the good end of a shootout game with Granada, getting a 52-46 win. Porter Spade led the offensive attack as he threw five touchdown passes, three of which went to Stockton Mitchek.
Kit Carson at (8) Granada
Last week’s loss to Eads snapped a three-game winning streak for the Bobcats. John Hainer led the effort with 84 rushing yards and a touchdown. Brandon Gonzales also contributed with two touchdown passes.
If Granada wins its final two games of the regular season, it would finish second in league. The Bobcats currently sit at No. 3 in the CHSAA Selection and Seeding Index.
(9) Branson/Kim at Mountain Valley (Saturday)
The Bearcats found themselves in a battle in last week’s 36-34 loss to Prairie. The grit and effort was certainly there as Peyton Cranson rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns. He’ll need a similar effort his week as the team looks to rebound from that loss and beat Mountain Valley.
Mountain Valley has now won two games in a row after dropping their first five of the year.
