With an update to RPI standings this morning, we can get a good idea of how the six man football brackets will end up. Official pairings will be released later Sunday morning but this is the projected bracket based on standings from 7:30am.
#1 Kit Carson (8-0) vs #16 Peetz (2-6)
#8 Flagler/Hi Plains (8-1) vs #9 Eads (5-3)
#4 Fleming (9-0) vs #13 Deer Trail (7-2)
#5 Prairie (7-2) vs #12 Cotopaxi (6-3)
#3 Cheyenne Wells (8-1) vs #14 Mountain Valley (5-3)
#6 Granada (6-3) vs #11 North Park (6-3)
#7 Branson/Kim (7-1) vs #10 Briggsdale (6-3)
#2 Stratton/Liberty (8-1) vs #15 Walsh (2-6)
As you can see, there is not a conference matchup in round one so the pairings should be easy to release. The only change might involve #5 Prairie and #12 Cotopaxi. Since they played on Saturday to close the regular season, they would face a quick turnaround in a rematch to open the playoffs. Criteria doesn’t prevent that but the committee could make that change.
