Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it. Or so they say. History doesn’t always play a factor with high school football teams.

The turnover in rosters, coaching staff and even classifications don’t allow much to be learned from the last time a pair of teams last played, depending on how far back it goes.

But it can still be fun to look at.

With the football playoffs in six of seven classifications beginning this week, here is what happened the most recent time these first-round opponents faced off (in the MaxPreps era).

Class 5A

However, the Chargers would later realize that they had an ineligible player at the time, and the result now stands as a forfeit win for the Cougars.
