Final week play in boys’ basketball begins tonight with several important games on the slate.  Colorado Preps will update scores through the night and then breakdown what the results mean to league races.

 

CLASS 1A

FINAL:  #2 DeBeque beat Olathe 56-21

FINAL:  #8 Mile High Academy beat Beth Eden 78-31

GAME NOTES:  DeBeque and Caprock Academy remain atop the West Slope South division.  Both teams have one loss and have split two conference matchups.  The title may be decided later this week when Caprock has a tough date with third place Cedaredge.  DeBeque edged the Bruins on a free throw with no time left on the clock in their game last week.

 

CLASS 2A

FINAL:  #1 St Mary’s beat Vanguard 96-49

FINAL:  #2 Lutheran beat #5 Manual 70-50

FINAL:  #4 Manitou Springs beat Colorado Springs Christian 58-48

FINAL:  #10 Englewood beat Aurora Central 76-59

FINAL:  University beat Valley 69-67

GAME NOTES:  St Mary’s and Manitou Springs continue to sit atop the Tri Peaks race as both stayed unbeaten with wins tonight.  They meet on Saturday in a game that should determine the league crown.  Englewood gained sole possession of the Colorado conference lead as they won the first-place battle with Aurora Central.  Both were unbeaten in conference going in.  University also kept their playoff hopes alive with a narrow win over Valley.  Lutheran keeps part of first place in the Metro as they hand Manual their first conference loss.  The two were tied with Colorado Academy atop the standings.  CA has a tough date with Faith Christian on Tuesday as well.

 

CLASS 4A

FINAL:  Pueblo South beat #3 Pueblo Central 58-51

FINAL:  #5 Mead beat Summit 59-24

FINAL:  #9 Steamboat Springs beat Coal Ridge 54-51

FINAL:  #10 Golden beat Green Mountain 58-46

GAME NOTES:  Pueblo South avenged an earlier loss to Pueblo Central and now the two teams are tied for the South Central conference lead.  Each team is 8-1 in conference play.  Both clubs also have one conference game remaining as Central hosts Pueblo West on Thursday and South is home to Pueblo East.  Should either stumble, the other will be the league champion.  If both have the same result, they will share the crown.  Steamboat Springs stays unbeaten in the season and moves one step closer to a top four playoff seed.

 

CLASS 5A
