One of the best early season tournaments in the big school ranks takes place this week as Golden and D’Evelyn host their annual opening week event. Four of the top five teams in the Class 4A Pre-season rankings are included in the field and two of them square off this evening when #1 Golden meets #5 Holy Family.
#2 Pueblo South and #4 Lewis Palmer are also in action this evening facing Mountain View and D’Evelyn respectively. South won’t have a full team as their football club is playing in the state championship game on Saturday while Lewis Palmer is already 1-0 after beating Pueblo Central on Wednesday.
Elsewhere, there’s a good matchup between #2 Cheyenne Wells and #10 South Baca as part of the Ballard Classic in Springfield.
