Quite a bit on the line across the Tuesday boys basketball schedule as teams continue to jockey for league titles and better placement in the playoff bracket.  Top games to keep an eye on include Windsor-Longmont in 4A, Mancos-Ignacio in 2A and Caprock Academy-Cedaredge in 1A.  All have league championship implications.

Windsor and Longmont share the top spot in the 4A Northern conference so the winner ends up with the championship.  That team also could be the top overall playoff seed when the playoff brackets are released on Monday.  Ignacio looks to land the San Juan championship by beating Mancos for a second time.  Their 50-39 in the first meeting gives them a one-game edge going into the recap.  Caprock Academy needs a second win over Cedaredge to share first place with DeBeque in the Western Slope southern division.  Cedaredge will be a tough out.  They’re the third place team and played DeBeque to a one point game last week.

The complete schedule below also includes top 10 clashes between Cherry Creek-Mountain Vista and Faith Christian-Colorado Academy.  We’ll update scores throughout the night and then breakdown how those results impact the league championship.

FINAL:  #8 Mile High Academy beat Prairie 68-40

FINAL:  #9 Evangelical Christian beat Elbert 52-51

FINAL:  #10 Haxtun beat Otis 70-27

GAME NOTES:  DeBeque finished the conference schedule with a quality win over Plateau Valley.  And coupled with the Caprock Academy loss to Cedaredge, the Dragons claim the Western Slope South division championship.  They will not meet the North winner for the overall championship on Saturday.  Possible opponents could be Meeker, Vail Christian or Vail Mountain.  The one point win over Elbert keeps Evangelical Christian alone atop the Black Forest chase.  The Eagles must still get by Simla later in the week before clinching the championship.

FINAL:  #4 Denver Christian beat Longmont Christian 55-37

FINAL:  #9 Ignacio beat #8 Mancos 47-44

GAME NOTES:  Ignacio will be the San Juan champion as they finished off the regular season sweep of Mancos.  The Bobcats upped their league mark to 8-0 and overall to 10-2 with their ninth straight win.  Limon bounced back nicely from the Wray loss on Saturday by crushing Deer Trail.  The Badgers had already wrapped up the Union Pacific race but tonight’s decision leaves them unbeaten in conference play overall.  Denver Christian stayed unbeaten in the Mile High and will now face Highland for the overall league championship on Saturday.  The Huskies are also unbeaten in the conference.

CLASS 3A

FINAL:  #10 Englewood beat Weld Central 84-45

FINAL:  Fort Lupton beat Eagle Ridge Academy 63-52

FINAL:  Pinnacle beat DSST Montview 69-53

GAME NOTES:  Sterling is the Patriot league champion based on their win over Estes Park.  The decision also keeps the Tigers unbeaten in conference play.  Pinnacle’s win over Montview breaks the first place tie inside the Frontier and gives the Timberwolves the league championship.  They have just one conference game remaining with Platte Canyon on Friday so tonight’s win wraps up the league race.  Englewood’s win keeps them atop the Colorado league standings as they improved to 5-0 in conference action.  Fort Lupton used their win over Aurora Central to stay tied with Aurora Central in second.  Both clubs are now 4-1 with a loss to Englewood on their resume.  The two second place teams square off on Thursday in Aurora.

FINAL:  Canon City beat Mesa Ridge 67-54

FINAL:  Coronado beat Palmer 64-51

GAME NOTES:  Elizabeth grabs the lead in the CS Metro North standings as they edged Sand Creek.  Both teams had just one league loss entering the game so the Cards are now alone in first.  They must still beat Sierra on Thursday to clinch the championship outright.  Sand Creek beat Elizabeth in the first meeting.  Montrose stayed unbeaten on the season.  They had already wrapped up the SWL crown before tonight’s win over Fruita.  Steamboat Springs moves to 10-0 in conference play and now is just one win away from clinching the Western Slope championship.  Palisade stayed two games back with a 62-30 win over Battle Mountain.  Pace favored Longmont but Windsor gets the win and the Northern conference crown by beating the Trojans.  Both teams were 6-1 in league play going into their conference finale.  With results tonight, Canon City is the CS Metro South champion.  They began the night tied with Palmer at 6-3 but finishes one game up since the Terrors lost to Coronado.  It was also the final conference game for both clubs so the Tigers are the champion.  Lewis Palmer remains in the top four of the Pikes Peak chase.  They were tied with Rampart and Doherty in second place with all three teams a game behind Fountain Fort Carson.  The win also pushed the Rangers to 8-2 overall.
