Several important conference games were set for Tuesday night.  We look at the results and indicate the impact on league championships.

CLASS 1A

  • Coming off a tough loss to Mile High Academy on Saturday, Flatirons Academy responded by beating Shining Mountain on the road (61-48).  The win kept the Bison tied for third with Rocky Mountain Lutheran in the 5280 conference.  They can move into second place on Thursday when they collide with Denver Jewish Day.

CLASS 2A

  • Vail Christian remained in a first-place tie with DeBeque in the 2A/1A Western Slope as they moved past Hayden 70-55. DeBeque though has the tiebreaker since they beat the Saints in their conference meeting earlier this season.  The win does keep Vail Christian two games ahead of all other clubs in the race for the top district seed.
  • Highland rolled Front Range Christian 83-59 on Tuesday to keep a share of the 2A/1A Mile High lead with Denver Christian. Those two clubs collide in a huge contest on Friday.
  • Mancos stayed one game back of Ignacio atop the 2A/1A San Juan conference by beating Dolores 56-19. The two clubs meet for a second time in Mancos next Tuesday

CLASS 3A

  • St Mary’s kept their hold on third place in the Tri Peaks by outscoring La Junta 89-72 on Tuesday. The win pushes the Pirates to 8-2 in conference action but they remain two back of co-leaders Manitou Springs and Vanguard.  St Mary’s also has losses to the Mustangs and Coursers so they will likely not finish higher than third.
  • Manual blew past Stargate 72-28 to stay third in the Metro. The Thunderbolts opened the night sharing the spot with Machebeuf.  The Buffs did not play this evening but now need a win over Kent Denver tomorrow to keep pace with the Thunderbolts.  Both teams remain a game back of Faith Christian as the Eagles topped Peak to Peak.
  • The top three clubs in the Patriot all won this evening as Resurrection Christian topped Frontier Academy, Sterling downed Frontier Academy and Eaton outlasted Strasburg. Resurrection Christian (9-0) is alone in first with Sterling (8-1) a game back.  Eaton bumped to 7-2 and shares third with University (6-2) but they also have a win over the Bulldogs.  University remains in the chase for second as they face Sterling on Friday.
  • DSST-Montview kept sole possession of the Frontier lead by moving past Middle Park 68-51. The Knights are 8-0 in the conference and now have a two-game advantage on Middle Park, Bennett and Sheridan.  Sheridan lost to Pinnacle on Tuesday; their second straight league loss after opening with five straight wins.

CLASS 4A

  • Erie solidified their hold on second place in the Tri Valley with a narrow 77-74 win at Windsor. The Tigers now lead the Wizards by two games in the loss column.  Mead also kept their two-game cushion in first by beating Fort Morgan on the road (90-50).
  • Longmont and Silver Creek stayed 1-2 in the Northern conference as both were winners on Tuesday. The Trojans held off Centaurus 56-48 while the Raptors stuffed Northridge 69-56.  The loss was costly for Centaurus as the Warriors fell three games off the pace overall and behind Niwot into fourth.  Niwot picked up a win over Greeley Central (44-39) and remain just one back of Silver Creek in the race for second.
  • Pueblo East did not suffer a letdown following a huge win over Pueblo West on Monday night. Last night’s victory gave the Eagles a two-game lead on the Cyclones and Pueblo Central and that kept that margin with a 65-53 win at Pueblo County.  West and Central also picked up wins so they remain tied for second.
  • Cheyenne Mountain continues to roll through the Pikes Peak conference as they blitzed Sand Creek 79-52 on Tuesday. The Indians remain three games ahead of Lewis Palmer in the championship race as the Rangers stuffed Discovery Canyon 87-79.
  • Conifer took over the top spot inside the Colorado 8 race by beating Fort Lupton 54-43.  The Lobos and Blue Devils were both unbeaten going in so the Lobos now stand alone in first.  They did not clinch the championship as they must beat Weld Central on Thursday to do so.  If Weld Central wins that game, then the Rebels, Conifer and Fort Lupton will share the crown.

CLASS 5A

  • Vista Peak handed Gateway their first league loss 58-52 so the two teams now share second place behind Rangeview in the East Metro.  Rangeview easily kept the conference lead by blowing past Brighton 100-41.
  • Boulder and Fairview each added another conference win on Tuesday so they continue to share the Front Range lead.  Boulder downed Horizon 61-49 and Fairview stuffed Rocky Mountain 73-51.  The leaders meet at Fairview on the 17th.  Fossil Ridge topped Greeley West and Broomfield edged Legacy so the Sabercats and Eagles remain in a third-place tie.
  • Fruita Monument’s win over Grand Junction Central 56-33 kept the Wildcats unbeaten in the Southwestern league.  They remain one game ahead of Montrose.
  • ThunderRidge remains part of the league leaders in the Continental.  They moved to 7-1 by beating Heritage 55-43 on Tuesday and that win kept the Grizzlies tied with Chaparral in first place.  Legend had a piece of the lead before a loss to Mountain Vista on Tuesday so the Titans now share third place with the Golden Eagles and Regis if the Raiders get by Castle View as expected.  Rock Canyon lost ground on the third place teams as they suffered their third league loss to Douglas County (63-53).
