We check in on results from Wednesday and breakdown the impact on league races as several clubs wrapped up league championships.  We’ll continue to update as the night moves along.

CLASS 1A

  • Denver Waldorf is the 5280 champion as they held off Mile High Academy 65-61.  Waldorf wins the title by two games with Mile High dropping into Denver Jewish Day and Flatirons Academy.

CLASS 3A

  • Manitou Springs is the 3A Tri Peaks champion as they beat Vanguard 62-57.  Both teams were unbeaten in league play going in so the Mustangs will be the #1 seed for the district and Vanguard #2.
  • DSST-Byers wrapped up the Confluence championship with a solid 62-45 win over Ridgeview Academy.  The result leaves the Rams in third place with DSST-Green Valley grabbing second.

CLASS 4A

  • As expected, Longmont won the Northern conference championship by demolishing Greeley Central 63-16.  The result leaves Silver Creek as the runner-up club.
  • Golden clinched the Jeffco title by beating D’Evelyn in a narrow two point win.  The win moved the Demons two games up on Wheat Ridge as the Farmers lost to Evergreen on Wednesday.  Golden and Wheat Ridge face off on Friday but that game now has no impact on the league championship picture.
  • Fort Lupton (3A) and Conifer will meet for the Colorado 8 league tournament championship.  The Bluedevils edged Weld Central and Conifer moved past Englewood.

CLASS 5A

  • Cherry Creek is the Centennial champion thanks to their 56-52 road win at Grandview.  The win gives the Bruins a two-game edge on the Wolves with just one conference game remaining.  Creek closes the season at Smoky Hill on Friday.  The Buffs lost to Eaglecrest on Wednesday but remain two up on the Raptors in the race for third.
  • Pine Creek stayed two games up on Doherty in the CS Metro and clinched the championship by beating Palmer.  The Eagles close with Coronado on Friday.
  • Columbine suffered a costly loss in the Jeffco as they fell to Arvada West.  The loss leaves both teams with two league losses and one game back of co-leaders Valor Christian and Ralston Valley.  Both the Eagles and Mustangs were winners on Wednesday so they continue to share the lead.  Ralston Valley won the head-to-head meeting so they’re the league champs if they beat Arvada West on Friday.
