A very important game out west headlines the boys basketball Top 10 schedule for Saturday. Top ranked De Beque (1A) heads to Vail Christian (2A) for a first place showdown inside the conference. Both teams are unbeaten in league play so the winner stands alone atop the standings.
Two other nice battles can be found in Class 1A between Haxtun-Otis and Springfield-Kit Carson. Haxtun is coming off a tough overtime home loss to Wray (2A) on Friday while Otis scored a big win at Briggsdale. Springfield has won four straight and five of six while Kit Carson has won six of seven since the Christmas break.
In Class 2A, Byers needs a win over Burlington to keep pace with Limon atop the Union Pacific race. Sanford and Del Norte square off in the first of two meetings and this one is the non-league tilt.
In Class 3A, Sterling could get tested at home against Kent Denver in a top five battle while the winner of Colorado Springs Christian-St Mary’s could easily end up with a top two finish in the Tri Peaks.
