Southeast Colorado plays host a top five battle that will have implications in the league and district tournament and possible regional bracket pairings.  The meeting of #2 Holly and #5 South Baca highlights a very good Friday Top 10 schedule.
Both Holly and South Baca have thoughts on the Ark Valley championship and both sit in the same district tournament.  If both teams qualify for the regional tournament as they’re expected, they’re battling several teams for a top three seed and a first round bye.  As a result, tonight’s outcome could factor in all those decisions.  Holly is the defending state champion and South Baca will play again without Thomas Manuel who is still sitting out after transferring from Walsh where he averaged 25 points a game a year ago.
A rematch of the 2A state championship game is also set for tonight as #1 Sedgwick County entertains Holyoke.  The game is also important to the early Lower Platte league standings.  The Cougars lost to the Dragons last March but won the first meeting this year 40-36.
First place in the Santa Fe is also up for grabs when #2 Crowley County entertains Hoehne.  It’s the first of two meetings and neither team has a league loss going in.
Up in Class 3A, #1 Sterling tangles with Strasburg in a very good Patriot league date.  Both teams, along with Platte Valley and Resurrection Christian, have league championship thoughts.
Another early important conference clash pits #7 Holy Family at home against Windsor.  The teams are a combined 5-0 in the Tri Valley and it’s the first of two meetings.
Topping off the list of great matchups this evening is in Class 5A between #3 ThunderRidge and #6 Regis.  Both clubs are always in the state championship and this game will heavily factor into the Continental league championship.  The winner is likely the top challenger to #1 Rock Canyon for that title.
