As we get closer to the end of the regular season, virtually every game each night impacts league championship races and the post-season picture in girls’ basketball.  Through the rest of the 2019-20 campaign, Colorado Preps will offer nightly notes and break down the results and how they affect conference races.  We’ll update as results are reported.

CLASS 5A

  • SOUTHWESTERN:  Fruita Monument topped Montrose 44-39 and the result leaves the two teams tied with Durango in first place.  All three teams have one league loss.  The next key game comes up Saturday as Montrose faces Durango.  Montrose won the first meeting last weekend.
  • EAST METRO:  League leading Thornton did not play last night but Vista Peak stayed one game back with their win over Northglenn.  The Bison are tied for second with Rangeview who clubbed Adams City.
  • CONTINENTAL:  Regis kept a share of the lead with Highlands Ranch as the Raiders downed Chaparral 58-37.  ThunderRidge and Mountain Vista also won so the Grizzlies and Golden Eagles continue to share third place one game off the pace.
  • FRONT RANGE:  Fossil Ridge improved to 6-0 by beating Mountain Range.  They stay tied with Broomfield and Fairview as league unbeatens.

CLASS 4A

  • TRI VALLEY:  The race tightened as Erie scored a 52-20 win over Holy Family.  The outcome leaves Holy Family and Berthoud in first place with one loss apiece and Erie in third one game back.  Berthoud moved into the first place tie by handling Roosevelt.  Berthoud and Erie play another important game on Friday and then Holy Family and Berthoud face off next Tuesday.
  • COLORADO 8:  Skyview stayed alone in first with their 52-10 win over Fort Lupton.  Next up for the Wolverines is a key date with Riverdale Ridge on Thursday.  The Ravens stayed one game behind Skyview by beating Conifer 53-40.
  • WEST SLOPE:  Glenwood Springs is still the sole leader as they moved past Summit on the road.  The Demons are unbeaten and have a comfortable two game lead on Rifle.
  • NORTHERN:  Northridge broke a second place tie with Greeley Central as they beat the Wildcats 65-52.  Both teams had two league losses in so the Grizzlies are now alone in second.  They remain two games back of league leader Thompson Valley as the Eagles stayed perfect with a win over Niwot.

CLASS 3A

  • METRO:  Lutheran and Jefferson Academy stayed tied atop the standings as both picked up wins on Tuesday.  The Lions blew past Kent Denver 82-34 and Jefferson Academy dumped Skyview Academy 48-35. Skyview Academy suffered their second league loss and now sits tied with Faith Christian and Colorado Academy.  Two key games remain this week and both involve Jefferson Academy.  They meet Faith Christian Thursday and Lutheran on Saturday.
  • PATRIOT:  University opened the night as the lone unbeaten and they stayed in that position thanks to a 48-43 win over Estes Park.  Eaton moved past Resurrection Christian to remain in a second place tie with Platte Valley.  Both are one game back.  Platte Valley challenges University on Friday.
  • WEST SLOPE:  A tight of battle of first place teams went to Delta as the Panthers edged Cedaredge 33-31.  Both teams opened the game without a league loss so Delta is alone in first with Cedaredge dropping into a second place tie with Moffat County and Roaring Fork.  Delta and Moffat County meet later this week.
  • CONFLUENCE:  Lotus Academy beat DSST-Green Valley 49-21 on Tuesday so the Meteors remain tied with Eagle Ridge Academy atop the standings.  Lotus falls into Class 2A for the post-season.

CLASS 2A

  • MILE HIGH:  Dawson moved past Lyons on Tuesday as the Mustangs stayed one game back of first place Heritage Christian.  Dawson is tied with Denver Christian for second but both teams fell to Heritage Christian last week so the gap may be difficult to make up.

CLASS 1A

  • SAN JUAN:  Dove Creek maintained second place overall as they beat local rival Dolores 57-22.  The Bulldogs are one game back of Ignacio as they suffered a loss to the Bobcats early in the league schedule.
