The longstanding girls’ basketball postseason is in peril at Lincoln High School.

Less than three weeks away from the start of small-school, 32-team playoffs, the Lancers are parked on the Class 4A bubble at 30th. If they find a way to get in, it’d be their first postseason appearance since before 2006.

In this week’s look-in on 6A-4A girls’ basketball, we take a look at a few bubble teams vying to get into their respective playoff brackets. Class 6A and 5A’s regular season ends Feb. 22, with their 40-team postseason beginning three days later. The 4A-1A regular seasons end March 1, with the round of 32 and 16 set for March 7-8.

Class 4A (32-team postseason)

No. 29 Manitou Springs: The Mustangs had their five-game winning streak snapped in a blowout loss to Colorado Springs Christian School last week.

But their win streak, which included a 16-point victory over No. 26 La Junta on Feb. 1, currently has them in the 32-team postseason field. Sophomore Kate Jorstad had a career-high 18 points in the 39-23 win over the Tigers.

No. 30 Lincoln: The Lancers (12-5) got back into the win column with a 43-21 win over No. 45 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Early College on Monday.

They have three games remaining before their league tournament, with No. 23 DSST: Montview (Wednesday), No. 20 DSST: Cedar (Friday) and 5A No. 53 Gateway (Saturday) on slate this week.

No. 32 Eagle Ridge Academy: The Warriors (7-11) boosted their playoffs hopes with two wins over their past three games.

They avoided a possible blow to their ranking with a win over No. 43 Prospect Ridge Academy on Thursday, then got a quality victory over 5A No. 31 Aurora Central on Monday.

Next, they’ll host McDonald’s All-American Alexandra Eschmeyer and No. 9 Peak to Peak on Thursday.

Other bubble teams: No. 28 Moffat County (9-8), No. 31 Weld Central (4-13), No. 33 Coal Ridge (8-10).

Class 5A

No. 38 Silver Creek: The Raptors are just 3-15 this season but benefit from their rigid schedule inside the 6A/5A/4A Granite Peaks League, which features top-10 teams in 6A No. 4 Broomfield, 5A No. 2 Mead, No. 8 Frederick and 4A No. 6 Holy Family.

They have a rising star in sophomore Avery White (14.8 PPG and 11.4 RPG), who had a career-high 28 points to go along with 15 rebounds in a loss to 6A No. 50 Heritage last weekend.

Silver Creek’s wins this winter came against 5A No. 30 Glenwood Springs, No. 41 Mesa Ridge and No. 47 Mountain View.

No. 39 Littleton: The Lions (7-12) have won two of their last three games, with blowouts over No. 61 Wheat Ridge and No. 57 Pomona.

Lena Drakos scored 18 and 15 in those wins, shooting a combined 13 for 19 from the field. Her previous season high in points was 10 in a loss to Pueblo County on Dec. 7.

No. 41 Mesa Ridge: The Grizzlies (8-11) beat No. 54 Pueblo Central on Monday to stay within reach of No. 40 Regis Groff for the last projected playoff spot.

They host No. 59 Coronado on Friday. They beat the Cougars 71-26 behind 16 points and 12 rebounds from senior Maya Warriax on Jan 23.

Other bubble teams: No. 40 Regis Groff (8-10), No. 42 Harrison (7-11) and No. 43 Pueblo County (6-12).

Class 6A

No. 39 Fairview: The Knights (10-8) have double-digit wins in a season for the first time since 2019-20.

Sophomore Chloe Hickory had 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting in a loss to 5A No. 2 Mead last week.

Up next, Fairview will look to end its four-game losing streak when it hosts 5A No. 55 Skyline on Tuesday.

No. 40 Fort Collins: The Lambkins (6-13) got a much-needed win over Loveland on Friday.

In their 57-42 win, junior Annika Vandalen went 3 of 4 from deep and 11 of 14 from the free-throw line, finishing with 22 points.

They’ll look for the upset and a big boost to their playoff chances when they host No. 7 Highlands Ranch on Tuesday.

No. 43 Fountain-Fort Carson: The Trojans (7-12) still have a lot of work to do if they hope to get into the 40-team field.

But they’re trending up, with wins in two of their last three games. They beat No. 42 Liberty and 5A No. 50 Rampart by double digits over the past week.

Their odds would skyrocket with a win over No. 14 Doherty (Wednesday) or No. 30 Pueblo West (Friday) this week.

Other bubble teams: No. 38 Denver South (8-10), No. 41 Bear Creek (7-12) and No. 44 Castle View (6-14).
