New football rankings have been posted by CHSAA and the top 10 teams plus the next five in each class can be seen.  A total of 10 newcomers are found in the rankings and they’re listed in bold print.

Six man is the lone division not to see a new member.  The top five of Granada, Cheyenne Wells, Fleming, Stratton and Idalia remain the same order as last week.  Stratton did not fall despite a 52-37 loss to Cheyenne Wells.

In eight man, Sanford again held off Sedgwick County for the top spot.  The Indians scored an impressive win over Dayspring Christian who lost three spots down to seventh.  Akron, which upset Holly in overtime, joins at number nine with Simla another newcomer in 10th.

In Class 1A, Yuma has joined the rankings despite the loss to Strasburg in week two.  The Indians are the fifth team from the North Central in the top 10 joining Limon, Holyoke, Wray and Wiggins.

Four Western Slope conference members are now in the 2A Top 10.  That’s because Moffat County has joined in at number nine.  Delta is fourth, Basalt sixth and Rifle 10th as well.

Class 3A sees no change among the top three clubs with top ranked Roosevelt grabbing 13 of the 18 first-place ballots.  Durango remains second and Mead third.  Evergreen gets in at number nine; replacing Pueblo South who has opened 0-2.

Class 4A sees Pine Creek finally joining the rankings.  And the Eagles do so in a major way; appearing at number five.  They’re 2-0 on the young season including an impressive week one win over Pueblo West.  Skyline is a second new face to the rankings as the Falcons are 10th this week.  Loveland also moves ahead of Dakota Ridge for second place as the Indians only trail Palmer Ridge.

In Class 5A, the big news is at the top where Cherry Creek has moved past Valor Christian at number one.  The race is very close with the Bruins collecting 182 and the Eagles 179.  Arapahoe (7th), Chaparral (9th) and Castle View (10th) also join the rankings.
