LAKEWOOD — Columbine’s boys soccer program has started the 2025 season just as impressive as last year.
The Rebels began the Fall 2024 season with a 12-game winning streak. Columbine is off to a 2-0 start this year after a dominating 10-0 shutout victory against Littleton on Monday night at Lakewood Memorial Field.
“Off of last year it was one of the best years we’ve have in 20 years,” Columbine junior Connor Kaali-Nagy said of the 14-2-1 record a season ago. “Being able to piggyback off of it and having that some energy into this season feels great.”
After a 1-0 opening victory against Mountain Vista last week, Columbine got a second shutout win Monday with a 10-0 victory that ended in the 65th minute when the Rebels induced the 10-goal mercy rule.

Columbine (2-0 record) had three players score two goals each in the largest margin of victory for the Rebels since 2022. Senior Peter Wirtzfeld, along with sophomores Jace Johnson and Luke Denlinger had a pair of goals each. Johnson bookended the victory scoring the first goal in the 2nd minute and the final goal in the 65th minute.
“It was great. We have a great group of boys and they all love each other,” said Kaali-Nagy, who scored the third goal of the game in the 21st minute. “It’s a family. It’s a group of bothers, not just a team.”
Seniors Lucas Foley, Ashton Goldsmith-Breedlove and junior Adam Seaton also added goals in the non-league win. Senior Landon Bedoy was in goal for the first half for Columbine, while freshman Avery Ingalls took over net for the Rebels after halftime.
The Rebels are coming off a 14-win season and second-place in the Class 5A Jeffco League. Defending 5A Jeffco League champion Ralston Valley handed Columbine its lone regular-season loss last year and the two teams tied during the end-of-season conference tournament.
“Nothing is perfect at the beginning of the season,” Kaali-Nagy said. “I think we can build on last season and be even better.”
Kaali-Nagy is pulling double-duty this year playing soccer and handling the kicking and punting duties for Columbine’s football team. The Rebels’ football team is actually off to a rare 0-1 start after a Zero Week loss to Vista Ridge last Friday night.
“My freshman year we didn’t lose a football game,” Kaali-Nagy said referring to the Rebels winning the Class 5A football state title in 2023. “I always thought football would be better than soccer, but not this year so far. Columbine is Columbine. We are a family with all the students. Football and soccer will both have great success.”
Columbine boys soccer is back in action later this week. The Rebels face D’Evelyn at 7 p.m Thursday, Aug. 28, at Lakewood Memorial Field.
