Colorado Preps has released the latest round of composite rankings for girls basketball. Each Friday, we combine the votes from MaxPreps, RPI, CHSAA and Packard to develop an overall top 10 in each classification. Teams earn 10 points for each first place vote, nine for second, eight for third and so through the top 10 in each class. A score of 40 represents a unanimous choice at number one. We list all teams that receive at least one vote.
Two teams are unanimous picks in the top spot as Limon (2A) and St Mary’s (3A) each received 40 points. Limon has a 10 point lead on second place Holyoke in Class 2A with St Mary’s up by seven on Centauri.
Briggsdale missed by one point as the unanimous choice in Class 1A. They were ranked second by Packard but received top billing in RPI, MaxPreps and CHSAA. South Baca earned the remaining first place vote and that was enough to push the Patriots into second. In Class 4A, Pueblo West (38) has a narrow lead on Mullen (35) in the race for the top spot there.
The tightest race is found in Class 5A where Grandview and Valor Christian (37 points apiece) share first place with Cherry Creek only three points back in third. After those three comes a nine point gap to fourth place Regis.
