A busy and important Friday night of football has wrapped up and we now breakdown what the results mean to respective conference races in each class.
 

CLASS 5A

  • Fairview kept sole possession of the Front Range lead with their win over Fossil Ridge.  The Knights are 3-0 with a one game lead on Poudre and Legacy
  • SATURDAY UPDATE:  With their hard-fought 10-7 win over Far Northeast on Saturday, Denver East remains tied with Westminster for second place in the Metro 10.  Westminer topped Northglenn 35-12 on Friday and both teams are now just one game back of Smoky Hill.  The Buffs kept the top spot with their Thursday win over Adams City.
  • Cherry Creek rallied from a 13-0 deficit at halftime to beat Eaglecrest 14-13 and with the win moved into sole possession of the Metro East lead.  They’re also 8-0 on the season.  Eaglecrest, Grandview and Cherokee Trail are all 2-1
  • Valor Christian and ThunderRidge both won so the Eagles and Grizzlies continue to share the Metro South lead.  Both are 3-0 heading into their matchup next week.  Castle View took over third by downing Highlands Ranch.
  • Columbine and Pomona have posted wins this week so they’re both 3-0 and tied atop the Metro West.  They meet next week.
  • SATURDAY UPDATE:  Regis moves past Doherty 41-14 on Saturday so the Raiders keep a share of the Southern division lead.  They’re tied with Fountain Fort Carson who also moved to 3-0 in league play with a 42-21 win over Chaparral on Friday.

CLASS 4A

  • Chatfield is alone in first at the top of the Jeffco division.  They beat Golden 36-19 while Bear Creek and Grand Junction both lost.  the Bears and Tigers are tied with Dakota Ridge and Wheat Ridge at 1-1 and in second place.
  • Loveland and Skyline both moved to 2-0 in the Longs Peak.  The Indians topped Fort Collins 49-7 and Skyline posted an impressive 42-21 win over Skyline.
  • Montrose needed a win to keep pace with Ponderosa in the Metro and did so easily in beating Denver South 44-14.  Ponderosa toppled Gateway on Thursday night so both the Mustangs and Indians are 2-0
  • Broomfield and Greeley West both posted lopsided so they remain tied for the Northern lead.  They collide next week.
  • With wins on Friday, Fruita Monument and Vista Peak created a three-way tie with Standley Lake atop the Pioneer.  All three teams are 2-0 in the conference.  Vista Peak goes to Standley Lake next week.
  • Pine Creek and Grand Junction Central won by a combined 98 points on Friday and both remain in first in the Southern 1 division.  they’re 2-0 and will face off in week ten.
  • Pueblo West won on Thursday and Air Academy and Rampart posted victories on Friday so all three teams are 2-0 in the Southern 2 conference.  Pueblo West and Air Academy get together next week.

CLASS 3A

  • Discovery Canyon used an impressive win over Thomas Jefferson (39-22) to stay tied with Palmer Ridge atop the Central.  Both teams are 2-0 with another key game between Palmer Ridge and TJ set for next week.
  • SATURDAY UPDATE:  Evergreen rolled Lincoln 55-0 on Saturday so they sit tied with Green Mountain atop the Mt. Metro. Both teams are 3-0.  Green Mountain scored a win on Thursday.
  • SATURDAY UPDATE:  Mead earned the expected win over Northfield on Saturday so the Mavericks move to 2-0 and into a first place tie with Frederick atop the North Metro.  Frederick downed Holy Family 41-23 on Friday to stay perfect against league rivals.
  • Erie won on Thursday and Fort Morgan blanked Northridge 47-0 on Friday so the Tigers and Mustangs stayed tied (2-0) atop the North Valley conference.  They meet in the regular season finale.
  • SATURDAY UPDATE:  Durango knocked off Pueblo Central 24-6 on Saturday so the Demons stay tied with Pueblo East for the South Central lead.  East downed Pueblo Centenial on Friday night.
  • Harrison rolled past Canon City on Friday and with the win took over the outright lead in the Southern.  The Panthers lead four teams by one game.
  • Battle Mountain survived a road trip to Steamboat Springs by beating the Sailors 35-33.  The win pushes the Huskies to 2-0 in the Western Slope and in a first place tie with Palisade.  The Bulldogs toppled Glenwood Springs on Thursday.

CLASS 2A

  • SATURDAY UPDATE:  Machebeuf moved past Ridgeview Academy 20-8 on Friday and sit at 3-0 in the Colorado conference.  Kent Denver is expected to beat Riverdale Ridge on Saturday and should the Sun Devils do so they will also move to 3-0.
  • D’Evelyn and Faith Christian both moved to 3-0 in the Flatirons with wins over Arvada and Bennett respectively.  The two leaders meet October 26th.
  • Salida and Bayfield were winners on Friday so they’re both 2-0 and tied for the Intermountain League.  They square off in Salida on the 26th.
  • Platte Valley used a wild 31-28 win at Sterling on Friday to take over the Patriot East lead.  Both teams were 2-0 in league play entering the game but the Broncos are now one game up on the Tigers and Brush.  Platte Valley closes the regular season against Brush.
  • Resurrection Christian moved very close to the Patriot West title by downing Eaton 26-7.  The Cougars are alone in first and have a one game lead on both Berthoud and Eaton.  Resurrection Christian has beaten both teams so they wrap up the crown with a win over Academy next week or against Prospect Ridge in the final week.
  • La Junta is now alone atop the Tri Peaks.  They opened the week tied with Classical Academy in first.  But while the Tigers were beating Lamar in the annual Whistle Game, Classical Academy came up short to Elizabeth 7-3.  TCA and Elizabeth are tied for second (2-1) but of course the Cardinals now own the tiebreaker
  • Basalt has sole possession of the Western Slope.  They blanked Delta 19-0.  Aspen though upset Rifle 20-19 so the Skiers and Bears are 2-1 and sit one game back of the Longhorns.  The race is far from over as the Longhorns meet Rifle next week and Aspen in the following week.

CLASS 1A

  • Platte Canyon and Manual continue to share the Foothills lead.  The Huskies and Thunderbolts both moved to 3-0 with wins on Friday.  The leaders meet in Bailey on October 27th.
  • Limon grabbed the lead in the North Central by blanking Burlington 48-0.  The Badgers are 3-0 but still have Holyoke and Wray left on their conference schedule.  Burlington falls into a second place tie with Holyoke (both 2-1) but the Cougars beat the Dragons in overtime last week.
  • Strasburg used a forfeit over Pinnacle and a win by Highland over Cornerstone Christian to grab the lead in the Northern conference.  The Indians are 3-0.  Highland, Cornerstone Christian and Estes Park share second place at 2-1.  Highland plays Estes Park in the final week and Cornerstone still has a game left with Strasburg.
  • Peyton and Crowley County share the Santa Fe conference lead.  The Panthers knocked off Rocky Ford and the Chargers beat John Mall.  Both are 3-0 and they meet next week to determine the championship.
  • Centauri has clinched the Southern Peaks championship with their forfeit win over Dolores.  The Falcons have just one league game remaining and have already beaten both second place teams; Monte Vista & Center.
  • Florence (3-0) and Colorado Springs Christian (2-0) are still co-leaders in the Tri Peaks.  CSCS topped Rye and Florence shutout Buena Vista.  Their meeting is on the 26th but Florence also has a big date with Centauri for valuable RPI points next week.
  • Meeker took over the lead in the Western Slope by beating Paonia 32-0.  The Cowboys can now clinch the title with a win over Olathe next week.  Olathe and Paonia are both 2-1 and sit tied for second but Paonia has the head-to-head win and tiebreaker.

EIGHT MAN

  • Hoehne scored a non-conference win over Sangre De Cristo but they remain alone atop the Ark Valley (4-0) and one game up on Holly and Springfield.  They’ve beaten both so the Farmers can clinch the championship with a win over Wiley next week.
  • Front Range Christian wrapped up the Central title and a playoff berth with their win over Justice.  The Falcons though were outside the top 16 in RPI so they’re not guaranteed a home game in the opening round of the playoffs yet.
  • Mancos beat Norwood on Friday and with the win, the Bluejays secured a playoff berth and the Mountain championship.  Sanford and Sargent also won this week so they remain tied for second at 3-1.  They meet in the final week of the regular season.
  • West Grand moved past Hayden to keep the outright lead in the Northwest league.  Rangely’s win over Soroco gave the Panthers sole possession of second place. West Grand has a win over Rangely so they clinch the championship by beating either Soroco next week or Gilpin County in their final game.  Rangely wraps up second with a win over Plateau Valley next week.
  • Caliche’s defensive minded 6-0 win over Akron kept the Buffs tied with Sedgwick County atop the Plains conference.  They meet next week and the winner clinches the championship.  The loser will also finish no lower than second.
  • Pikes Peak Christian has clinched the Southern championship.  Simla wrapped up second place with their win over Swink on Friday.

SIX MAN

  • SATURDAY UPDATE:  Genoa Hugo clinches the Central championship and playoff berth with 63-33 win over Edison on Saturday.
  • Stratton/Liberty wrapped up the East Central crown with their 60-20 win over Arickaree/Woodlin.  Arickaree/Woodlin falls into a second place tie with Otis, who beat Idalia.  Otis and Arickaree/Woodlin play next week to determine second and third.
  • Peetz used their Thursday win over Prairie to clinch the North division crown.  Prairie has finished their league schedule and will end up second.  Fleming clinched third by downing Briggsdale 52-21 on Friday.
  • SATURDAY UPDATE:  Manzanola knocked off La Veta on Friday so the Bobcats are the South Central champions and earn the automatic playoff bid from the conference.
  • Kit Carson clinched the Southeast championship by beating Granada on Friday.  Granada must beat Walsh next week to finish second outright.
  • Mountain Valley plays Cripple Creek tomorrow but regardless of outcome, the Indians are Southwest league champions and are headed to the playoffs.
