Class 5A football teams conclude their regular season this week but several championships remain up in the air.  For teams in Classes 3A and 4A, there are two weeks of action remaining but some teams have a chance to clinch league crowns in week 10.
We go through each conference and breakdown the possible scenarios for teams still battling for a conference title.  We’ll update the story with RPI numbers for each conference once new standings are published Sunday morning.
 

CLASS 5A

FRONT RANGE

  • Fairview has clinched league title
  • Legacy has clinched second place
  • RPI:

METRO 10

  • Smoky Hill can clinch title with win over Westminster
  • If that happens, then Denver East is second regardless of outcome vs Rangeview
  • If Westminster and Denver East both win; the two share the title with Smoky Hill

METRO EAST

  • Cherry Creek is league champion with win over Grandview
  • If that happens, then Eaglecrest is second with win over Cherokee Trail
  • Grandview wins league title with win and Eaglecrest loss
  • If Grandview and Eaglecrest both win; the two share the top spot with Cherry Creek

  • Valor Christian has clinched the league title
  • Winner of Castle View-ThunderRidge is second and loser is third

  • Columbine has clinched league title
  • Winner of Ralston Valley-Pomona is second and loser is third
  • Arvada West cannot move up or down from fourth

SOUTH

  • Regis has clinched league title
  • Winner between Doherty-Fountain Fort Carson is second and loser is third

CLASS 4A

JEFFCO

  • No team can clinch this week
  • Chatfield, Dakota Ridge and Bear Creek share lead at 2-1 and none of the three square off this week.

LONGS PEAK

  • No team can clinch championship this week
  • Loveland and Skyline are tied for league at 3-0 and can clinch the top two spots with wins

METRO

  • Montrose and Ponderosa share lead at 3-0 and meet in Parker this week
  • Montrose can clinch championship with win as they’ve already beaten third place Heritage
  • Ponderosa cannot clinch with a win unless Heritage loses at Gateway

NORTHERN

  • Greeley West can clinch league title by beating Windsor
  • If Windsor beats Greeley West then Longmont and Broomfield can create three-way tie for the top spot with wins

PIONEER

  • Standley Lake and Fruita Monument share the lead at 3-0 and play in Grand Junction this week
  • Standley Lake can clinch with win since they have a win over third place Vista Peak
  • Fruita Monument can only clinch with a win if Thornton also beats Vista Peak

SOUTHERN 1

  • Pine Creek and Grand Junction Central share the lead at 3-0 and play in Colorado Springs this week
  • Grand Junction Central can clinch title with league win as they’ve beaten third-place Vista Ridge
  • Pine Creek can only clinch with a win if Vista Ridge also loses to Palmer

SOUTHERN 2

  • Pueblo West and Rampart share the lead at 3-0 and neither can clinch this week as they square off in week 11

CLASS 3A

CENTRAL

  • Palmer Ridge (3-0) sits alone atop the standings and clinches the title with a win if Lutheran also beats Discovery Canyon
  • Lewis Palmer (2-1) takes over the league lead if they beat Palmer Ridge. The result could leave the two and Discovery Canyon tied at 3-1 but the Rangers would have wins over both

  • Green Mountain can clinch championship with win at Kennedy
  • Winner between Conifer-Evergreen will be alone in second

NORTH METRO

  • Frederick and Mead share the top spot at 3-0 but neither can clinch as they don’t square off until week 11.
  • Frederick and Mead can clinch no worse than a second-place finish with wins this weekend

NORTH VALLEY

  • Erie and Fort Morgan share the lead at 3-0 but neither can clinch this week as they don’t collide until week 11
  • Erie and Fort Morgan wrap up a top two finish with wins this weekend

SOUTH CENTRAL

  • Pueblo East (3-0) is alone atop the standings and can clinch the crown with a with a win if Pueblo County also beats Durango
  • Pueblo South and Durango are both 2-1 and tied for second with the Colts owning tiebreaker based on last week’s head-to-head win

SOUTHERN

  • Harrison (3-0) is alone atop the standings and clinches the title if Canon City also beats Mitchell
  • If Harrison wins, then the winner between Canon City-Mitchell will be alone in second

  • Palisade (3-0) clinches league championship by beating Battle Mountain if Glenwood Springs also knocks off Summit
  • Glenwood Springs moves into second place with a win if Palisade also downs Battle Mountain
