Based on our consensus football rankings, the seeding committee may have a difficult time breaking down the 5A bracket as Cherry Creek, Ralston Valley and Valor Christian sit tied atop those standings. The rankings involve the combination of voting totals from various ranking services including CHSAA, RPI, MaxPreps and Packard. We award teams 10 points for a first place vote, nine for a second place vote and eight for third all the way to the top 10 in each class.
A formula based on these totals can be used to seed teams in the playoff bracket after RPI selects which 16-teams make the field. Pine Creek with 38 points and Mead with 39 are the top choices this week in Classes 4A and 3A respectively. All teams who received at least one vote in any poll is included in our list.
