- The winner between Kiowa and Simla will remain tied with Evangelical Christian atop the 1A Black Forest. All three teams are unbeaten in league play. ECA next steps on the court against Cripple Creek on Saturday.
- Merino needs a win over Sedgwick County to maintain a share of first place inside the 2A/1A Lower Platte. The Rams are 4-0 in conference play and tied with #1 Holyoke (2A) in first place as the Dragons are 3-0. Sedgwick County (3-1) is tied with Wiggins (1-1) in the standings but has a win over the Tigers so they’re in good shape for a top three league finish. A win tonight puts them in great position to finish no worse than second. Their lone loss is against Holyoke.
- Heritage Christian (2A) is 4-0 in the Mile High conference and shares first place with Dayspring Christian (6-0). The Eagles play Gilpin County (3-2) tonight and need a win to keep pace with Dayspring Christian. Heritage and Dayspring collide next Thursday. Gilpin County starts the night tied with Denver Christian in fourth.
- Dolores faces Ignacio tonight and again on Wednesday. The Bears are only 3-7 overall but they begin the night tied with Dove Creek atop the 2A/1A San Juan standings. The Bears lost to Dove Creek 61-24 in January but that was a non-league game. Ignacio is coming off a tough road loss to Mancos but a win keeps them in position for a top two district seed.
- Two big games on tap in the 1A/2A Union Pacific this weekend. First up is the Friday battle between Stratton and Limon. Limon shares first place with Burlington as both are 4-0 with Stratton in third at 3-1. The Eagles have a loss to Burlington so another tonight takes them out of the league title chase. A win keeps them alive since Limon and Burlington also clash tomorrow night.
- Also a big weekend for North Park as they go to Cedaredge tonight and then host Meeker on Saturday. All three teams have one league loss and sit tied for second place; one game back of first place Soroco. The Rams have already beaten Cedaredge and Meeker.
- Alamosa (4-0) leads Centauri (3-1) by one game in the 3A Intermountain league schedule. They play tonight with a second game set for the 15th. Alamosa has already beaten third place Pagosa Springs (3-2) twice so a win this evening moves them very close to a league crown since they would own a two game edge on both challengers and a combined 3-0 record against them.
- Mead and Holy Family clash tonight to likely determine second behind #1 Windsor (4A) in the Northern chase. Both teams suffered their only league loss to Wizards last week. Mead played Windsor to a closer margin so the comparative scores give them the edge. The Mavericks are second in RPI and Holy Family ninth. Mead is also third in our Colorado Preps combined rankings with the Tigers seventh.
- Grand Junction Central and Fruita Monument battle tonight with the winner taking over the first half lead in the 4A/5A Southwestern chase. Both teams are 4-0 and it’s the first of two meetings. Game two is on the 15th.
- Grandview and Cherry Creek meet for the second time inside the 5A Continental. The Wolves open the game tied with Arapahoe (both 4-1) atop the standings with the Bruins one game back at 3-2. Grandview won the first game rather easily; 54-34.
- Ralston Valley and Valor Christian also meet up in the 5A Jeffco and the winner will end the night alone in first. They’re a combined 5-0 in league play and favored to finish 1-2 at season’s end.
- Pomona, Arvada West and Columbine all share third place in the Jeffco and trail Ralston and Valor by one game. Separation will occur a bit on Friday as Pomona meets Arvada West.
- Doherty has a chance to basically lock up the 5A/4A Pikes Peak championship the next two nights. The Spartans (6-0) are alone in first but face second place Pine Creek (6-1) tonight and then meet Fountain Fort Carson on Saturday. FFC is tied with Palmer Ridge (4-2) in third place. Since Doherty has beaten Palmer Ridge this year, wins over Pine Creek and FFC give them tiebreakers against their top challengers plus they would have a two-game edge in the loss column.
