Compared to a normal Monday night, we have a very busy schedule in girls’ basketball tonight as top 10 teams for all five divisions step on the court.  There are also several more clubs involved in conference games where wins could push them closer to a league championship.

Below is the entire schedule.  We’ll update with final scores throughout the night and then provide notes on how standings change with results.

CLASS 1A

FINAL:  #1 Briggsdale beat Fleming 55-50

FINAL:  Lone Star beat Hi Plains 48-29

FINAL:  Belleview Christian beat Rocky Mountain Lutheran 44-15

GAME NOTES:  Lone Star stayed unbeaten in the YWKC race and can clinch the title by beating Arickaree/Woodlin later in the week.  Briggsdale picked up a second straight quality win as they outlasted Fleming just two days after turning back Flatirons Academy in overtime.  It was a crucial win as they’re battling Kit Carson for the top overall playoff seed.  Fleming entered the game 31st in RPI points but this effort should boost those numbers.  If they get into the bracket, they will be a tough out and could make a deep run depending on their health.  Belleview Christian handed Rocky Mountain Lutheran their first loss inside the 5280 and that result leaves Flatirons Academy alone in first.

CLASS 2A

FINAL:  #6 Heritage Christian beat Union Colony Prep 53-24

Dolores Huerta at Calhan

FINAL:  Lotus School beat Aurora West 55-17

GAME NOTES:  Lotus plays in the 3A Confluence conference but drops in to Class 2A for the post-season.  The Meteors are poised to win the league championship as their win over Aurora West keeps them tied with DSST-Byers for the top spot.  RPI wise, it’s likely only the league champion gets a post-season bid this week.  Lotus and DSST-Byers collide on Saturday in what could be the conference championship contest.

CLASS 3A

FINAL:  #1 Vanguard beat Lamar 67-32

FINAL:  #3 Lutheran beat #10 Kent Denver 67-32

FINAL:  #6 Academy beat Pinnacle 70-35

FINAL:  Colorado Academy beat Machebeuf 33-29

FINAL:  Peak to Peak beat Manual 57-33

GAME NOTES:  Kent Denver dropped out of the first place mix in the Metro with the loss to Lutheran.  The Sun Devils entered that game tied with Lutheran and Peak to Peak atop the standings.  Peak to Peak kept their piece of the top spot by beating Manual.  Peak to Peak and Kent Denver also meet later this week and based on play throughout the season, that winner could end up second to Lutheran.  Colorado Academy is now alone in fourth in the Metro after beating Machebeuf.  Academy kept sole possession of the Frontier lead with their win over Pinnacle.  The Wildcats have not lost a league game since the 2018-19 season and are favored to run the table again this year.  A tough test with University is up on Saturday in Greeley.  Vanguard remains the lone unbeaten in the Tri Peaks with their solid win over Lamar.  The Savages had momentum from recent wins over St Mary’s and Ellicott but the loss drops them two games off the pace.

CLASS 4A

FINAL:  #4 Falcon beat Sand Creek 74-61

FINAL:  #5 Mullen beat Cherry Creek 44-36

FINAL:  #7 Classical Academy beat Mitchell 59-32

FINAL:  #10 D’Evelyn beat Alameda 80-11

GAME NOTES:  Classical Academy bounced back nicely from the tough overtime loss to Falcon on Saturday night.  They moved to 6-2 in the CS Metro North and are now alone in second with Falcon’s win over Sand Creek.  the Titans and Scorpions were tied for second in league play going in.  Falcon remains unbeaten in the conference and needs just one more to win officially clinch the championship.  Mullen kept pace with Arapahoe in the Centennial as both teams opened the night tied for second; two games behind first-place Grandview.  The Mustangs and Warriors meet in the final week.  D’Evelyn’s win was a non-conference game as the Jeffco league slate concluded last week.  The Jags finished one back of Green Mountain in the race for the title.

CLASS 5A

FINAL:  #1 Grandview beat Cherokee Trail 60-37

FINAL:  Poudre beat #5 Fossil Ridge 41-37

FINAL:  #8 Arapahoe beat Smoky Hill 93-27

GAME NOTES:  Poudre’s upset of Fossil Ridge changed the top of the Front Range standings.  Fossil Ridge opened the game unbeaten at 6-0 and alone in first but the loss drops them into a tie with Monarch and Horizon.  All three clubs are 6-1.  Monarch downed Legacy 62-35 and Horizon bested Mountain Range 64-50 tonight.  Horizon and Fossil Ridge meet on Wednesday in what is now a very important game.  Arapahoe remains tied with Mullen for second in the Centennial.  The Warriors trail Grandview by two games overall but still has games remaining with the Wolves and Mustangs.
