Looks to be a fun of girls’ basketball on Tuesday as there are several important league contests and many attractive non-league pairings.  Much of the attention will be focused on Class 3A as #1 Platte Valley looks to finish off a perfect regular season by beating #4 University.

A win also gives the defending state champions the Patriot league championship and top overall playoff seed.  University has a league loss to Eaton so another drops them to third in the division; but that would be good enough to still host a regional tournament in a couple of weeks.  An upset of the Broncos also creates a three-way tie for the championship if Eaton also beats Sterling as expected.

Also in Class 3A, the winner between Alamosa and Centauri lands the Intermountain league championship.  Grand Valley also meets Coal Ridge with the winner landing third in the Western Slope.

Class 1A also has a great schedule with the most important matchup likely found outside the top 10.  It’s in the Black Forest where Simla can clinch the league championship by beating Evangelical Christian.  Simla is alone in first with ECA and Kiowa tied for second.  Kiowa has a head-to-head win over ECA but lost their conference game with Simla.

Flatirons Academy beat 3A Resurrection Christian by 23 points last night and seems to be hitting stride at the right time.  The defending state champions also downed Fleming last Saturday and today heads East to #7 Lone Star.  Idalia and Sangre De Cristo both step up to Class 2A for good road challenges as well.  Burlington is coming off the big win over Sedgwick County on Saturday.

Despite that loss, Sedgwick County can clinch second in the Lower Platte by beating Yuma tonight.  Merino can also wrap up third place but they face a strong test at Wiggins.  Also in 2A, is a very good pairing between #2 Sanford and 3A Pagosa Springs.  Rye also looks to finish off a perfect 19-0 regular season by beating Rocky Ford.  The Thunderbolts have won each conference game by at least 34 points this year and should roll through their district tournament.

In Class 4A, the semifinals are set for the Northern/Longs Peak crossover tournament and both games are highly anticipated.  #1 Windsor is challenged by #3 Mead and #4 Holy Family makes the trek to #6 Roosevelt.  The Riders won the Longs Peak crown while the other teams finished 1-2-3 in the Northern.

Grand Junction Central hosts Fruita Monument tonight in a game to finalize the top two spots in the Southwestern.  Fruita won the first game so they have the one game edge and the Wildcats will clinch the title outright with another victory.  Central creates a tie for the crown if they avenge the earlier loss.

In Class 5A, Highlands Ranch has clinched the Continental crown but Chaparral needs two more wins to stay ahead of Regis in the race for second.  Both teams are in action tonight and both are favored.  In the East Metro, Rangeview topped Brighton last night and now Vista Peak meets the Bulldogs this evening.  The Bison need a win to keep pace with the Raiders as league unbeatens.

Over in the Front Range, Monarch and Fossil Ridge share the top spot and both see action tonight.  The Coyotes are the league champions by winning out since they have the head-to-head win over the Sabercats.

Below is the entire schedule for top 10 teams.  We’ll update scores throughout the night and then below the rankings, update some games that impact league championship races.  Final scores can be sent to Colorado Preps by text to 970.380.7737.
