Only two days remain in the girls basketball regular season and the seeding for the Class 2A District 2 tournament is far from complete.  The only thing for certain is that top ranked Holyoke is the number one seed and will get a first round bye.

After that, there are simply too many scenarios to go through as spots two through five remain largely up for grabs going into the final round of games today and tomorrow.  The easiest solution for the second seed is that it may come down to the winner between Sedgwick County and Akron.  Wray and Merino also play tonight as does Wiggins and Burlington.  Haxtun scored a double-overtime win against Wiggins on Thursday night.

Elsewhere in Class 2A, Soroco has led the Western Slope chase throughout the season and they can officially clinch with a win at North Park.  Should they stumble, they get another chance to clinch against Plateau Valley on Saturday.

Sanford can also wrap up the 2A Southern Peaks title with a win tonight at Center or tomorrow against Del Norte.  If that happens, then Sargent is number two by beating Monte Vista this evening.

In Class 1A, second place is the online in two conferences.   Cheyenne Wells has second in the High Plains regardless of outcome against Cheraw but a Wolverines loss could drop them to fourth if Kit Carson also beats Eads.    Kim/Branson also meets Springfield to determine second and third in the Ark Valley.  McClave and South Baca have already clinched those respective crowns.

Haxtun looks to follow up the lengthy win over Wiggins on Thursday by challenging 7th ranked Lone Star.  The Longhorns coming off that huge win over defending state champion Flatirons Academy on Tuesday.  The game is non-league but the teams could pair up again in the regional tournament provided both advance.

In Class 3A, the focus is on the Patriot league district quarterfinals.  Platte Valley, Eaton, University and Resurrection Christian are the top four seeds and host teams who advanced with wins on Thursday.

In Class 4A, Littleton’s trip to D’Evelyn could decide second in the Jeffco.  The Jags are tied with Green Mountain in first with one league loss but the Rams have the championship through a tiebreaker.  Littleton has two league losses and sits one game back.  D’Evelyn won the first meeting 58-35.

Very busy night in Class 5A.  Valor Christian has wrapped up the Jeffco and Ralston Valley will be second if they beat Bear Creek as expected.  Columbine can take the spot with a Bear Creek if they also get by Dakota Ridge.

Grandview is the Centennial champion but Cherry Creek, Mullen and Arapahoe share second with records of 7-3.  Mullen and Arapahoe collide so one club will fall off the pace.  Cherry Creek is favored to earn a win so they would remain tied with the winner.  The Bruins beat Mullen in their only conference matchup and they split two with Arapahoe.

Monarch and Fossil Ridge continue to lead the Front Range but the Coyotes are the champions with a win over Loveland today.  Monarch beat Fossil Ridge in league play earlier this year.

Highlands Ranch is the Continental winner but Chaparral must win this evening to secure second.  A loss would be their second in league play and then Regis would take the runner-up slot on a tiebreaker if they get by Heritage.

Doherty finishes up the big school schedule wit ha game against Air Academy and that winner grabs the league tournament championship.  The Spartans also won the regular season title.

Below is the entire schedule for top 10 teams.  We’ll update scores throughout the night and then below the rankings, update some games that impact league championship races.  Final scores can be sent to Colorado Preps by text to 970.380.7737.
