For Class 6A and 5A girls basketball teams, there are just 10 days left to shore up a postseason résumé.

On the other hand, there are also 10 days remaining to screw up everything you worked so hard to accomplish. That’s 240 hours on a tightrope above a plunge into anguish and disappointment.

High school coaches more often tend to lean into hopefulness, however, and that’s probably the right way to go, especially in terms of their players’ psyche.

At Denver East, the 6A No. 6 Angels (13-5, 6-0 City League) can add another superb win to their 2025-26 bio when it hosts No. 5 Northfield (17-2, 5-1) on Friday. It’ll be East’s last game before next week’s Class 6A City League tournament.

So far, the Angels have defeated four teams inside the 6A top 10. They beat No. 7 Legend and No. 8 Highlands Ranch in December before taking down No. 2 Arapahoe and fifth-ranked Northfield last month. Their only in-state loss came Dec. 5 against No. 3 Broomfield, which remains unbeaten at 19-0 this winter.

Speaking of undefeated, Broomfield and 5A No. 3 Montrose (20-0) are the only flawless among those in the two biggest hoops classifications.

Broomfield’s biggest remaining regular-season test is likely next Tuesday against 5A No. 6 Mead.

The Red Hawks close the regular season against 5A No. 20 Palisade, No. 21 Durango and No. 29 Grand Junction.

Below is a breakdown of a few key games across 6A, 5A and 4A next week. The 4A regular season has a little more breathing room, stretching until Feb. 28.

Class 6A

No. 4 Valor Christian at No. 2 Arapahoe, Monday at 7 p.m.

Arapahoe (17-1) can probably still capture the top seed by the time the playoffs begin. The Warriors have No. 13 Eaglecrest and Valor Christian remaining, along with the Centennial League tournament, where they could see No. 1 Cherokee Trail for the second time this season. They beat the Cougars by nine on Jan. 21.

Valor Christian (16-3), on the other hand, could secure a statement win here and possibly finish the regular season with just one in-state loss — to No. 3 Broomfield on Jan. 10. Peyton Jones (23.4 PPG) went 5-for-8 from beyond the arc in a win over No. 9 Columbine on Saturday, finishing with 29 points.

No. 7 Legend at No. 8 Highlands Ranch, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

This matchup features two teams capable of winning this year’s 6A title, and in the meantime, it will likely decide the 6A/5A Continental League champion.

Highlands Ranch (17-3, 7-0) beat No. 11 Regis Jesuit 57-47 on Friday behind 21 points from sophomore Jayda Rogers, then won its 13th straight game of the season with a 49-25 victory over No. 19 Fort Collins on Tuesday.

Legend (14-5, 6-0) had four players score in double figures in its 52-29 win over No. 22 ThunderRidge on Friday — the Titans’ eighth straight victory.

Class 6A/5A

5A No. 4 Windsor at 6A No. 19 Fort Collins, Friday at 6 p.m.

Windsor (15-5, 8-1 Northern League) can pull even with Fort Collins (14-6, 9-0) in the league standings with a win.

The Lambkins beat the Wizards by 17 in their first meeting Jan. 20, though they led just 32-31 at halftime.

Class 5A

No. 5 Standley Lake at No. 2 Green Mountain, Monday at 5:30 p.m.

It’s a top-five matchup and could decide the 5A/4A/3A Jeffco League title.

If the state had an all-freshman team, Jojo Martin would be on top of it. She’s been dominant for Standley Lake (17-2, 6-0), averaging 24 points, 10 rebounds and six steals per game.

Green Mountain (21-0, 8-0), led by Kantyn Pearson’s 17 PPG, has just one loss — to 6A No. 1 Cherokee Trail on Dec. 6.

Class 4A

No. 8 Kennedy at DSST: Green Valley Ranch; vs. Denver West, Wednesday at 6 p.m.; Friday at 6 p.m.

Kennedy (15-2, 9-0 4A/3A City) is having its best season in memory and could reach 20 wins before the postseason even begins.

Ahead of its league tournament, it faces DSST: Green Valley Ranch (2-14, 2-7) and Denver West (6-11, 4-5), both of which have losing records.

The Commanders won 16 games last winter, tying their most in a season since before 2006-07.
