A couple of games of note in the smaller divisions, but the girls’ basketball Wednesday schedule is dominated by matchups in Classes 4A and 5A. Several excellent conference pairings also make up for the lack of a top 10 battle.
Final scores of the games listed below will also be posted to this story throughout the day. Results can be shipped to us by text at 970.380.7737 or by email to [email protected].

CLASS 2A
FINAL: Peyton beat Thomas MacLaren 60-20
NOTES: Since they’ve already beaten Calhan, Peyton can actually clinch the Black Forest championship with another win tonight. The Panthers are heavily favored since they won a non-league matchup with Thomas MacLaren 61-30 just last week. Freshman Abbie Nickell netted 20 points and hit six three-pointers in the win. She also pulled down a team high nine rebounds. Paige Gowen added 12 points.
CLASS 3A
FINAL: #9 Delta beat Gunnison 70-11
FINAL: Moffat County beat Montrose 50-46
NOTES: The preseason favorite along with Moffat County to win the Western Slope title, Delta opens their conference run at home and is heavily favored. The Panthers are coming off a weekend where they split games with Centauri and Alamosa; falling to the Falcons 66-55 and beating the Moose 58-19. They must also avoid looking ahead to a neat matchup with 5A Fruita Monument on Friday. The Panthers continue to feature three double digit scorers in Alexa Huff (13.5), Erika Kuta (13.0) and Keeley Porter (10.0). Gunnison is winless but gets over 15 points a game from junior Melita Ferchau.
CLASS 4A
FINAL: #1 Mullen beat Cherokee Trail 64-23
FINAL: #2 Holy Family beat Greeley Central 63-23
FINAL: #3 Green Mountain beat Evergreen 59-26
FINAL: #5 Falcon beat Elizabeth 71-14
FINAL: #6 Windsor beat Skyline 90-15
FINAL: #7 Erie beat Silver Creek 72-26
FINAL: #8 Classical Academy beat Sand Creek 81-53
FINAL: #10 D’Evelyn beat Standley Lake 60-13
NOTES: The Green Mountain-Evergreen contest is a key one inside the Jeffco chase. Both clubs are 3-0 and tied with D’Evelyn and Littleton atop the standings but after tonight, one team will be one game off the pace. Both clubs have been rather dominant against conference foes with the Rams outscoring opponents 256-39 and Evergreen 167-76. Jayda Maves (19.0) leads Green Mountain on offense on the season and despite limited minutes has tallied 64 points in three conference wins. Avery Oaster (16.4) has 56 in league action and Courtney Hank (11.4) 37. Jameson Mott (19.2) is Evergreen’s top scorer and has been over 20 points in all three league contests. Falcon’s 70-23 win over Sand Creek on Monday kept them alone in first atop the CS Metro (3-0). Hannah Burg went for 21 points, Billie Fiore 16 and Kayla Harkema 15. Classical Academy and Sand Creek are both 2-1 in league play so tonight’s winner grabs sole possession of second place. Comparison scores against the first place Falcons give the edge to TCA as the Titans fell by just three compared to the 47-point margin for Sand Creek. Brooka Jones (12.3) and Kaelan Boyles (10.5) average double figures for TCA and Katharine Roach (9.8) is very close. Holy Family, Windsor and Erie all enter the evening 1-0 in the Northern chase and tied with Longmont and Mead in first place. All three posted lopsided wins in their conference openers outscoring opponents by a combined 169 points. Mullen (3-1) is favored to beat Cherokee Trail and needs a win to stay one game back of Centennial leaders Grandview and Arapahoe (both 4-0). The Mustangs close the week at home vs Eaglecrest on Friday but then challenge both leaders next week. Gracie Gallegos (16.3) and Megan Pohs (10.5) combine for 27 points a game and the Mustangs feature four players grabbing over five rebounds a night.
CLASS 5A
FINAL: #1 Grandview beat Smoky Hill 96-12
FINAL: #2 Valor Christian beat Arvada West 64-25
FINAL: #5 Ralston Valley beat Columbine 51-32
FINAL: #6 Arapahoe beat Eaglecrest 47-41
FINAL: #7 Fossil Ridge beat Loveland 46-28
FINAL: #9 Rangeview beat Adams City 88-9
FINAL: Westminster beat #10 Vista Peak 57-32
FINAL: Rocky Mountain beat Broomfield 57-50
NOTES: Centennial leaders Grandview and Arapahoe (both 4-0) face off on Friday so both must avoid looking past games tonight. The Wolves are heavily favored against winless Smoky Hill but the Warriors could get challenged by Eaglecrest as the Raptors share third place with Mullen (3-1). Sophomores lead Eaglecrest with Nia McKenzie topped the Raptors in scoring (14.8) and rebounds (8.3). Laci Roffle also provided 11 points and nearly six rebounds a game. Arapahoe has outscored four opponents 287-144 but is coming off a tough 61-48 decision over Cherokee Trail. Katy Edwards (19) and Sam Crispe (17) combined for 36 points and the Warriors won at the foul line (18-5). The top four clubs in the Jeffco collide tonight so the standings could tighten or loosen. Valor Christian (3-0) is alone in first with Ralston Valley, Columbine and Arvada West chasing them at 3-1. Valor and Ralston Valley are favored and if both win, it likely turns the race into a two-team battle. The Eagles would then have the advantage since they beat the Mustangs 65-63 seven days ago. Ralston’s Sydney Bevington went over the 1,000-career point mark earlier this year and also has over 600 rebounds, 200 steals and 200 assists. Fossil Ridge is favored to get past Loveland tonight and should that happen, the Sabercats will be tied with the Rocky Mountain-Broomfield winner atop the Front Range. All three teams are 2-0 in league action. Broomfield lost three non-league games before beating Boulder and Legacy to start the conference run. Courtney Wristen recorded a double-double in both games; 19 points and 11 rebounds against Boulder and 15 points with 10 boards vs Legacy. Rocky Mountain has had a more difficult time in the Front Range; beating Fairview and Boulder by a combined seven points. Skyler Haase had ten points and five rebounds against Fairview and freshman Sara Chicco (11) reached double figures against the Panthers. Rangeview (4-0) and Vista Peak (3-0) have combined for seven wins overall this year with the rest of EMAC combining for just eight so it’s a good bet the Raiders and Bison meet for the title. That matchup doesn’t take place until the final day of the regular season (March 6th).
