A few conference updates in girls’ basketball based on results from Friday.  Some clubs clinched league titles while many other setup highly important contests next week.

CLASS 1A

  • Springfield’s win over Wiley keeps them unbeaten and tied with South Baca for the Ark Valley lead. They collide next Thursday to determine the champion and top district seed.
  • Fleming cruised by Prairie to remain tied with Briggsdale atop the North Central. The teams have split two regular season matchups so it’s highly likely they will share the crown.
  • Sangre De Cristo stayed unbeaten in league play and alone atop the Southern Peaks standings with their win at Manzanola. Cotopaxi held onto second by beating Antonito.
  • Cheraw beat Eads to create a three-way tie for second in the High Plains. The Wolverines, Eagles and McClave all have two league losses.  McClave still has a game with first-place Kit Carson left on the schedule.

  • Rocky Ford continued their perfect season with a conference win at Holly. The Meloneers square off with fellow unbeaten Rye next Tuesday to determine the Santa Fe league championship.

  • University is the Patriot champion as they moved to 8-0 with their road win at Sterling. They’re one up on Eaton with just one game remaining and they have a win over the Reds.  Brush also scored a win over Estes Park 43-41 to remain in a third-place tie with Platte Valley.  Those two meet on Tuesday.
