We run through some of the highlights concerning league races in girls’ basketball from Monday.  The story will receive updates through the night.
 

CLASS 3A

  • Lotus School moved past Strive Prep 48-31 to stay perfect in the Confluence (5-0). They continue to lead Eagle Ridge Academy by one and beat the Warriors 39-38 last week.

CLASS 4A

  • Sand Creek kept their two-game lead in the Pikes Peak and remained unbeaten in the conference by beating Lewis Palmer 60-54.
  • Pueblo West has complete control of the South Central chase as their 63-24 blowout of Pueblo East kept the Cyclones two games up on all other teams. They’re 6-0 with Pueblo South now alone in second at 4-2.
  • George Washington kept the Denver Prep League very crowded at the top as they rolled Denver West 92-26. The Patriots share first place with Denver East, Denver South and Thomas Jefferson.
  • Windsor stayed put in fourth in the Tri Valley with a 59-37 win over Roosevelt. The Wizards (10-3) continue to trail Erie (10-2) and Berthoud (11-2) in the race for second.  Holy Family (11-1) is the conference leader but faces Berthoud on Tuesday.

CLASS 5A

  • Cherry Creek scored their second win this season over Mullen and with it, virtually locked up a top two finish in the Centennial. The Bruins have one league loss and trail Grandview by one game while Mullen suffered their league loss.  They remain third but the gap to second place is now two games.
  • Grandview had no trouble in holding onto the top spot in the rankings by blasting fellow top 10 member Ralston Valley. The Wolves are now 11-0 since Christmas and 17-2 overall.  Their most difficult remaining game is with Cherry Creek on the 19th.
  • Valor Christian kept sole possession of the Jeffco lead with an easy 69-18 win over Bear Creek. The Eagles continue to lead Lakewood, Arvada West and Ralston Valley by one game.  They’ve beaten Lakewood and Ralston Valley and will face A-West this Friday.
  • In a battle of Front Range unbeatens, Broomfield edged Fairview 57-54.  With the win, the Eagles climb into a first place tie with Fossil Ridge (both 8-0) with Fairview dropping to third.  Broomfield now goes to Fossil Ridge on Frida with the winner gaining the outright conference lead.
