It doesn’t get much better than this in the regular season as two number one teams collide on Wednesday night. And both Mullen (4A) and Cherry Creek (5A) are defending state champions as well. The game is also a conference battle inside the rugged Centennial.
The Centennial is also home to a second top 10 battle between #2 Grandview and #8 Cherokee Trail. The Cougars have already dropped a league game to Cherry Creek so a second loss puts them in a tough spot concerning a league championship.
A third ranked matchup can be found in the 4A Pikes Peak between #5 Sand Creek and #6 Air Academy. Since Air Academy was upset by Falcon on Monday night, they need a win to avoid falling two games back of the Scorpions just two weeks into the league schedule.
