In the first week of the Class 5A and 4A football playoffs, a combined 16 teams got to sit at home, rest and await the results of the first round before figuring out their opponents.

The waiting period is over. Every team in hunt of a state championship in all classifications will be in action this week. Teams in 2A, 1A, 8-man and 6-man will battle for a spot in the semifinals while the bigger classifications will whittle their fields down to eight teams for next week.

Every game and every opponent is tougher from here on out the playoffs roll on.
