Only 18 games are on the Saturday football schedule but a third of them will play a role in whether teams stay in first place in their conference or fall off the pace a bit.  In one case, a league champion can be crowned and a playoff berth earned in the six-man division.  We breakdown the matchups in our Saturday GameDay report.
Colorado Preps will track results throughout the day with our Scoreboard.  If you have updates or final scores on your games you can text to 970.380.7737 or email to [email protected].
Updated conference standings can also be seen here.  They automatically update as final scores are posted.

Denver East (5-2) at Far Northeast (3-3)
With both Smoky Hill and Westminster already picking up wins this weekend, Denver East must do the same to stay in the top three of the 5A Metro 10.  They’re tied with Westminster in second place and a win keeps them there.  The Angels have the tiebreaker over Westminster based on a 13-6 head to head win

Regis (3-4) at Doherty (3-4)
Even though both teams are below five hundred for the season, both are right in the middle of the 5A South league championship race.  The winner moves to 3-0 and stays in a first-place tie with Fountain Fort Carson who moved past Chaparral on Friday.  Regis has outscored two league opponents 71-7 and Doherty 59-0.  The Spartans have won their last three following an 0-4 start.

Evergreen (3-3) at Lincoln (2-4)
Evergreen toppled George Washington 43-0 in their league opener last week and the win was their third in four games.  Another one this week keeps them tied with Green Mountain top the 3A Mt Metro conference.  The Rams beat George Washington 17-10 last night and will go to Evergreen next week.  Lincoln has wins over Littleton and Northridge on the season but dropped their league opener to Kennedy 46-0.

Durango (4-2) at Pueblo Central (4-2)
This is one of only two games on our feature list today that includes both teams above the five hundred mark.  The difference between the two came last week in league openers as Durango dumped Pueblo Centennial 33-8 and Central lost a frustrating 17-14 decision to Pueblo County.  As a result, the Wildcats may need this win to stay in the 3A South Central chase.  A Durango win moves the Demons back into a first-place tie with Pueblo East atop the conference standings.

Merino (3-3) at Dayspring Christian (2-4)
Both teams are well back behind co-leaders Sedgwick County and Caliche in the 8man Plains chase but we still list the game due to RPI.  The Rams are 16th in RPI this week with Dayspring Christian 19th.  Both are on the bubble and even more so since Front Range Christian is only 25th in RPI but will get into the playoffs as a conference champion.  That means both clubs most likely need to finish in the RPI top 15 to land a bid.  The winner improves those chances while the losers has a difficult climb to get there.

Genoa Hugo (3-2) at Edison (3-2)
The Pirates join a growing list of league champions in the six-man division as a win over the Eagles lands them the Central championship.  They sit at 3-0 in league play with Edison tied with Deer Trail in second just one game back.  An Edison win creates a three-way tie between the three clubs and the race will likely finish in that manner since all three have already played.  Genoa Hugo is favored based on head-to-head results with Deer Trail as they beat the Eagles 52-31 and Edison lost 67-50.
