Normally we struggle to find five games of interest on the Saturday football schedule but that’s not the case here in week four as we list eight nine matchups.
A trio of headliners include the six-man state championship rematch between Peetz and Stratton/Liberty, the top ten battle between Platte Valley and Eaton in 2A and the very important league encounter between Mancos and Sargent in the 8man division.
Peetz rallied past Stratton/Liberty to win the crown a year ago and makes a return visit on the road today.  The game will be played on a different field.  Last year, Liberty high school hosted the finals and today the game is at Stratton.
Platte Valley was 10-0 entering the state quarterfinals last year but the Broncos lost their chance at a state championship with a 9-6 loss to Eaton.  The Broncos had knocked off Eaton 41-21 but couldn’t pull out a second victory against their long-time rival.  This is the first meeting between the two since the playoff stunner.
Resurrection Christian returns from a bye to host Classical Academy.  The Titans are a deceiving 0-2 with losses to D’Evelyn and Sterling.
Sanford is playing good football through the first four weeks and could challenge but the winner between #3 Sargent and #10 Mancos is the likely Mountain division champion in eight man.  Both clubs are unbeaten and both have already posted solid victories.  The host Bluejays beat then #3 Merino 14-6 last week while the Farmers opened the season by outscoring Fowler and then won on the road at Springfield last week.
Another league title could be decided on the opening weekend of conference play when Simla visits Custer County.  Both teams are 2-0 overall and the winner could only receive a challenge from Pikes Peak Christian (2-1) the rest of the way.
In the big school ranks, Boulder and Denver East play for a share of the Metro division lead.  The winner will stay tied with Smoky Hill and Westminster in that large 10-team division.  Grandview also looks to keep pace with other members of the top five in 5A and a win over Fountain Fort Carson could push the Wolves past Pomona and into fourth since the Panthers lost to Cherry Creek on Thursday night.  Legend also faces Emporia from Kansas in a mid-season cross-state battle.  A win gets Legend to a 3-1 start while the Spartans check in at 1-1.  They will face off at a neutral site in Scott City, KS.
Greeley Central is off to a rare 2-0 start and today the Wildcats get to see if they can push for a 4A playoff start when they visit Longmont.  The Trojans are 1-1 and need a win to gain momentum for next weeks’ clash with in-city opponent Skyline.
Colorado Preps will track scores throughout the day and you can follow along with our Daily Scoreboard.  Once there, simply click on the class of your choice to see the games you are most interested in.  Results are also listed in conference order.
