Several league champions were crowned on Friday and the Colorado Preps Scoreboard Show was on hand to congratulate many of the winning teams.  We spoke with eight coaches – all of which either earned a conference title; picked up a first round playoff win in the six man division or stayed in contention for a league crown.
Our coaches hotline is presented each week by NAPA Auto Stores throughout Colorado.  All interviews are available on-demand below.  Simply click the play button underneath the coach of your choice.

NORTH PARK – Chad Carlston

The Wildcats traveled 365 miles to pick up a playoff win over Granada.  It was just the second post-season win in school history and pushes them into the state quarterfinals next week.

PONDEROSA – Jaron Cohen

A five hour bus trip did not deter the Mustangs as they kept their league championship hopes alive with a defensive minded 7-0 win over previously unbeaten Montrose.

HOLYOKE – Dusty Sprague

The Dragons finished off a perfect regular season and captured the North Central crown by holding Limon 14-12 on Friday.

PAGOSA SPRINGS – Myron Stretton

The Pirates landed the 2A Intermountain championship and automatic playoff berth by downing Alamosa 33-22.  The win finished off a very good two week stretch for Pagosa Springs as they also topped Bayfield the week before.

FAITH CHRISTIAN – Vince Siravo

The Eagles moved past D’Evelyn on Friday with the win giving them the 2A Flatirons conference championship.  It was their eighth straight win and should provide the Eagles with a home playoff game in round one next week.

FLORENCE – Jeremy Nix

The Huskies avenged two losses to Colorado Springs Christian last year as they rallied from a 10-0 deficit to knock off the Lions 13-10.  The win earned Florence the 1A Tri Peaks championship.

MEEKER – Shane Phelan

The Cowboys collected another 1A Western Slope championship as they moved past Hotchkiss for a second time this season.  They had also taken out the Bulldogs in a non-conference game back in the first game of the year.

RALSTON VALLEY – Matt Loyd

The Mustangs blanked Pomona 17-0 to win the 5A Metro West crown.  It also left the Mustangs 10-0 for the season and very much in the discussion for the top overall playoff seed.  Brackets are announced on Sunday.
